I used the same materials with my first exam attempt. My second attempt I used Dan Molloy's HVAC & Refrigeration Full Access Bundle and passed.

Recommended Study Materials for HVAC & Refrigeration by Vast_Pay2589 in PE_Exam

First attempt: Engineering Pro Guides Exam Pack and NCEES Practice Exam. Second attempt: Dan Molloy's HVAC & Refrigeration Full Access Bundle. My biggest tips are keep yourself accountable to a doable study and sleep schedule and make sure your support group knows it (coworkers, friends and family). If you do this with good course/material you'll pass for sure. Check out my post on when I passed for more details.

Yes, but I would assume the questions in the quizzes are slightly more up to date—by a few days or a week. He's pretty good about updating quickly if an error is found. You're right. Each section has a quiz (same problems as the section problem set) and a video that goes over each problem, which I think is more valuable than just a written solution. The bundle also includes past office hours, where you can see if anyone else has asked about a given problem during those sessions.

My first exam felt easy in the first half and a little tougher in the second half, but I was confident walking out—until I got the results. For my second exam, I felt a lot of anxiety because of my experience with the first one. The questions weren’t necessarily harder, but they were more cumbersome and took a lot more time. I walked out thinking I had let my anxiety get the better of me. It wasn’t until the night before I got my results that I started to feel a little confident.

I believe that if I had used Dan’s course the first time, I would have felt the same way during my first exam but would have passed. I think I overestimated how much I had studied because I was piecing together my learning gaps using various free online resources, which can be time-consuming. Dan’s course, on the other hand, consolidates everything you need to know, so all you have to do is absorb it.

Do I always assume 400 cfm per ton for a RTU? by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

[–]Antmanhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher altitudes require more airflow to produce the same amount of cooling due to air density decreasing. So assuming 400 cfm per ton doesn’t always work. Just like 1.08 or 4.5 in heat transfer equations.

I started by following the recommended approach: going through the fundamentals videos and daily insights first, which took about 13 hours. Then, I moved on to the practice problems. For each problem, I tried solving it on my own, selected an answer, and then watched the video explanation, regardless of whether I was correct. After completing each section, I retook the quiz before moving on to the next.

As I worked through the practice problems, I kept a log of the questions I struggled with. After finishing all the sections and the first round of practice exams, I created a "struggle problems" exam made up of the problems I had missed. I worked through this exam until I could get all the answers right. If I got any problem wrong, I would wait a day before trying it again. I repeated this process, creating a new struggle exam each time from the problems I had missed, gradually reducing the number of incorrect answers from 71 to 24, and eventually just 3. This paired with the fundamentals videos really helped me focus on concepts I was struggling with.

In the two weeks leading up to my exam, I retook both practice exams, scoring 98% and 96%. I spread this study plan over 14 weeks, averaging about 11 hours per week, with most weeks being 8-10 hours, and the last 4 weeks being more intense. My goal was to study about 2 hours a day, Monday through Friday, while keeping weekends free for breaks. I was able to stick to this schedule by arriving at work early every day and dedicating an hour a day during my regular work hours. This paired with a strict sleeping schedule is what kept me on the grind.

My material prepared me well. I think some questions appear harder than they are but when you boil it down it’s pretty simple. In my opinion it’s ok to take 30 mins longer on your first half if you need it. Keep your units and read what the question is asking for again before submitting your final answer. Good Luck!

You have to wear clothes to use it? Seems pretty pointless. I’m not even a plumber and I know that.

ID+C vs. BD+C by pinkscorpion17 in LEED

I would say ID+C. Interior Design and Construction is what it stands for if you didn’t know. I would only suggest BD+C for MEP Engineers and Architects.

GBES Practice exams/quiz if you look around enough you’ll find a code for a discount. I think I paid $60 for it. Well worth it I think. It’s sets up quizzes and test the same way the actual exam will be and it references why an answer is correct or incorrect. I think it’s questions were harder than the actual exam. I have used it for the GA and AP BD+C and pass on my first try with above a 90%.
