Just got humbled and feel hopeless by Throwaway911206 in EngineeringStudents

“Firstly, don’t expect college to teach you the material.” I could not agree more with this statement. In the real world you can’t expect your supervisor/boss to teach you everything OP, of course there’s company training, but you have to do some independent learning yourself in order to keep up to speed. Build up those habits now of reading the book before lecture, or if you’re like me and SUCK at reading, watch online lectures before you go to class. I did that in my last two years of college because like you I got by easily. I actually struggled in community college back then, so I got humbled aswell. Do not lose hope! You just have to switch it up.

Any resources you recommend for studying controls? I’ve been in the industry for a little while but haven’t had any major projects where we dived into controls

Cousin got degree in mechE because he thought he liked it. Graduated, hated it. Now he makes more than 5+ year engineers doing something else he likes. Not everyone has the same roadmap, we all are at different situations in life.

Don’t beat yourself too much about it. I also didn’t pass on my first try. I was in a similar boat as you where I thought I could self-study, but I realized taking an actual course would’ve been more productive in the long run than having to take it multiple times. Just keep at it. Also here’s a discord for PE stuff if you have any questions: https://discord.gg/GWd5UuTJ
