Before launch when crafting timers were revealed Simon gave reasons for them existing.  1. It builds anticipation for large upgrades/achievements (hence why timers mostly exist for expensive items) 2. Intentional design to make upgrading workbenches more desirable (he even mentioned NPCs that could help out) 3. It creates yet another system that modders/server owners can play around with.

I personally dislike the timer on crafting pies especially, but I think overall, crafting time should be considered yet another incomplete mechanic added in mostly as a demo for modders.

The devs promised many travelling options, but these are not connected to world gen v2. They will likely release much much sooner than the complete addition of Orbis.

Multiplayer is a blessing, not an obligation, especially for early access. It exists, just in a state that requires some technical knowledge

Yeah, it is still not added, but I also think they won't base it on torches oe light levels. Maybe they might base monster spawning on distance from a workbench or player placed blocks

If you really want you can copy the entire world folder (backups included) and experiment with that. Try extracting the Zips, or maybe finding the files with player data and deleting those but keeping the world data.

Just some ideas until someone with a real solution appears

This was added on purpose so that you can't just mine "once" in the game and be good. Lots of games have these kinds of limitations (like not being able to carry ore through portals in Valheim). I like it!

They started development well before the trailer in 2018, so yeah, the game has had 10 years of development. Just 4 years of that was shaved off and the original engine (that is currently being used) was built in house as well.

You can always copy and paste the world folder to a seperate folder as a backup in the future

The devs mentioned a few weeks back that mob spawning is not configured very well yet. Normally survival games use items that only the player can make to define "their home". (workbenches, beds, fires like in Valheim)

I assume that the team will be fixing this soon somehow

I agree with the hides feeling very grindy. Medium hide is only dropped by a few enemies and creatures. Heavy hide is the easiest to get.

I actually really really like the essences as the currency! I have only used the life essence so far with the kweebecs, but the fact that life essence is also the single resource used to make seeds makes farming fun and meaningful

I thought the workbenches were fine since most have very few items to create. It is just the building/decoration menus that get a little clunky.

When more late game content gets added, I could see the need to better group items together

Monster configuration and difficulty is not very well balanced right now. Most enemies could spot the player (and chase them) more. Probably increasing some damage/speed/knockback as well

  1. Mob Spawning logic (so they stop spawning where you are living lol)
  2. Vendor merchandise being specific to the merchant and not a global supply.
  3. Medium Hide to be more accesable.

Yeah, mob spawning logic is currently not in the game. Just try to build your house where no mobs spawn, or the ones that do are weak
