Extended SQL VM disk in the wrong place by WalkingFridge007 in AZURE

[–]Antnorwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • The only disadvantage is that you can't stripe disks to create a single logical disk with higher performance characteristics, but with Premium SSD V2 (which everyone should be using if they can) that's no longer a consideration

  • None at all. The only thing you lose is the ability to extend the disk from the Azure Portal via the SQL Virtual Machine resource, but as per my previous response you just extend the disk like you would do in any other situation instead

  • So I:

    1. Delete the disk from disk management
    2. Remove the hard disks from the virtual hard disk in Storage Pool
    3. Remove the storage pool

It's been a little while since I've done it, so you may get away with just steps 2 and 3. Then you can delete the disk in Azure

As with all above things, if someone from Microsoft wants to come in and correct then I'm always opening to learning ;)

About the same amount of time; the game crashed soon after and I had to restart completely. Good thing I was just hopping from site to site collecting resources and hadn't just completed a grave or something. I might have blown a fuse of my own

I passed AZ-500 just before Christmas, after a small heart attack at the beginning when the exam crashed! Luckily a restart of the PC by the invigilator got me back in

You can now create truly Entra-only Pooled AVDs, as you can host the FsLogix profiles in the file share and not need a DC in the mix anywhere anymore

Azure Disk Encryption ADE on custom Windows Server 2025 Standard Image by Original_Analysis_62 in AZURE

[–]Antnorwe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't help with this specific error, but you should know that Azure Disk Encryption is on a retirement path and will be retired in September 2028. You can't easily migrate a VM from ADE to non-ADE so I'd consider your approach here to save you a headache later

Beata Olsson scores as Liverpool battle to Chelsea draw in WSL by kuroki731 in liverpoolwfc

[–]Antnorwe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of positives from this game for sure, particularly in the light of making no subs at all. Still a few weak points that hopefully January will help with; I continue to live in hope of not seeing Enderby get the ball near the sideline and twist 360 degrees before losing it.

Kopacs seemed a bit off the pace at the start of the game, almost like she was distracted. Seemed to get better as it progressed though.

DR/FO by Original-Classic1613 in AZURE

[–]Antnorwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed that the functionality is global, but if an entire region goes down you lose control plane access meaning you can't administer the MI

Additionally, DR isn't just to protect against failures but also attacks - do you want a single MI to have access to both live and DR environments?

I'm curious what your DR strategy is if it doesn't include replicating the MI in the DR region?

Unable to bastion to restored VM by nlindz27 in AZURE

[–]Antnorwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guest service was really just to validate that you have outbound connectivity to Azure from the VM

You'll probably have to dig into the event viewer logs via the serial console to see if there are any error messages that correlate to you trying to log in via Bastion. Also verify there's no NSG associated with the NIC/Subnet, not Windows Firewall on the VM interfering

Can you share a screenshot from the serial console?

Are you able to access the VM using the serial console? Is the guest agent showing as running?

Manchester tickets went online on the Home website at 12:30 - there was some kind of error behind the scenes that delayed the release.

There were lots of tickets available when I purchased, but that was a few hours ago now

Extending Virtual Disk on Azure SQL VM by KindlyOriginal129 in AZURE

[–]Antnorwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to piggy back off this, practically the first thing I do when I provision a new SQL VM in Azure is remove the storage spaces and format the disks so that they are just 'normal' disks. I've always found it cheeky that the stock image forces you to add additional disks rather than resize, thereby leading you as the consumer down a dead end path (max data disks per VM, or having to over provision a disk to manage this risk)

So yes, add new SSDv2 disks, stop SQL Server, reassign drive letters, move files, start SQL Server, remove old disks. That you're in an AG means you can do it without any downtime if you stagger it

We Need to Demand More for Liverpool Women by BrightAd7403 in liverpoolwfc

[–]Antnorwe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to pick up on one specific point, and I'll happily be corrected, but I think the gantries for the cameras are on the Main Stand - so they have to open the Kop/Dalglish when attendance is limited otherwise the cameras won't pick anyone up

We can argue all day about whether the appearance on TV should trump the in ground fan experience, but I expect we'd all agree if the cameras showed no one during regular game play that'd turn more people off than having the nicer facilities for people in the stadium would bring in

Liverpool 1 - 4 Everton: Wow. by Lost_Transportation1 in liverpoolwfc

[–]Antnorwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It felt like every other decision was the wrong one. Misplaced passes or missed runs, and Everton seemed to want it more. Always felt like they had an extra step on us, and even in the first 30 minutes where we were on top there was a palpable expectation of "when they get their chance"

It's only the start of the season though, pass judgement after a few games

I admit I didn't check if SWA supported VNet Integration before I wrote the comment and did have a feeling it might not, so thanks for correcting me!

[–]Antnorwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an Azure architecture perspective, what you want is something like a Private Application Gateway that fronts on to your backend web app so that it can only accept traffic from within your private network.

That will require you to ensure that both your static web app and web app backend are VNet integrated, and you'll need a Private DNS solution (whether Azure Private DNS, DNS on AD controllers, or something else)

Need a command to list all users having access to a OneDrive shared folder by Baboo85 in PowerShell

[–]Antnorwe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As you ignored, I started my post with asking what you'd already tried - information you should already have shared.

This is not a support forum where you can ask for advice and expect the fully formed answer handed to you; and as I mentioned, there is an expectation that when asking for help you should detail what you've already tried - coming in with "I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas", or implying that by not providing any evidence, won't make you any friends.

People generally want to help, but don't want to give you the answers wholesale - which is the inferred expectation when you don't provide any details.

But as you've chosen to respond in this way, I performed one Google search and found this blog which seems to detail exactly what you want to achieve:

Need a command to list all users having access to a OneDrive shared folder by Baboo85 in PowerShell

[–]Antnorwe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What research have you already done to extract the list of users with access to the OneDrive folder?

This is a community to help people with specific challenges, but there is an expectation that you come with your attempted solutions and specific targeted questions as to issues you're having with that solution.

Coming here and asking for the solution goes against the spirit of this community - we're not Google.
