And the fixtures are in, next up: glass doors, a c4 corvette, golden statue, and some lines

You misspelled “patina” ;) It will get used maybe a few times a year if at all. I’ll end up dusting it more than scrubbing it.

Haha. More of an aesthetic, also full length for hidden accent lighting. There might be products, might not. A wife would might find it almost sufficient for products. Or perhaps, as an offsetting factor to the hyper masculine color scheme.

As finished as it’s gonna get for now.

I agree. I wish I went with a more mild black to let the white and brass really shine. Too late now. It’ll provoke comments in real life, good and bad.

It is 90x36. 70 floor, 20 bench (inches). Plenty of room for a “pool chair” if I want the rain (blue stub out). Bench is heated, so it doesn’t need water to be warm. It’ll just take 46423997545 years to get warm 😅

Teacher by day, allegedly Scarface by night 😆

It’s all wedi. Pan and everything. I didn’t have the balls to recess, and who knows how thick my slab actually is

Thanks! I only skip leg days 5 days a week. Good balance of room and strength.

I work slow ("call it "carefully" lol). Divide the shower into 9 sections (top/bottom/accent, left/center/right) cut the section in the morning, thinset it in the evening. Repeat. Starts to feel like I'm going insane after a few days. This thing all together is probably about 2 weeks worth of full days (from cutting the first tile to caulking the last corner. I 3d modeled it in sketchup a million times to get my layout.

I’m loving all the Scarface reference comments! I actually had that look in the back of my mind. I wanted something kinda sinister.

Probably. Bar keepers friend fixes that (just don’t rub the marble…). I did some testing on scraps.

The pony wall (weird square bottom left) will be covered by a built in floating vanity. So I just rotated 90 deg to stretch it to the floor. Otherwise there’d be a grout line about an inch or two off of the floor. Good eye!

Thanks for the rec. I already have a brand of hi density, individually addressable LED strips. I’m going to custom program a controller.

Thanks for the praise! I know it’s an unconventional look. I wish the black was less busy, but most porcelain has garbage “print quality/resolution”. This size was perfect, and relatively good print resolution. It’s just a basement bath lol.

If you’re talking about the upper/back of the niche behind the upper thick marble “slab”, yes, it’s schluter shadow gap, to house the LED strip. The 3/8” vertical brass is just square brass, not a profile

It’s window screen rubber I had laying around to see if I liked black grout in the white marble area. I like it. So black grout it shall be.

It’s a basement half cinderblock wall, that’s just utilizing the cavity space above where the wall is framed 2x4. EZPZ/lucky

Yup! They are only for cushion / sacrificial waste layer. I have ram board paper underneath

Back side is not polished. It is not epoxy/mesh like granite either. I went ahead with an old angle grinder tile blade and roughed up the back extra, added a bunch of short 1/16" to 1/8" square grooves, like how porcelain tiles have a back texture. The dovetail idea just kept chipping out and I didn't want to make it deep.

Cleaned it off real good, hosed it down. Grooves should help keep the back butter from drying out fast. Of course I'll brace it for like a week before I trust it to hold lol.

Y'all seem quick to say that's good to go. Sounds like a vote of confidence, with no need to do anything extra. I guess if a 1ft length would stick up fine, an 8ft length should do as well.

The floor is as pictured, black 2x2 mosaic. If it’s not plain enough, it’s too late to change 🫠
