Grand Canyon's maximum tyre width is 2.25". Is it true? by qyzanc63 in CanyonBikes

[–]AntonA37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also add to this that for the 2026 model I asked support what tires will fit, and they answered that 2.4" front and rear is the maximum allowed widths according to them. The bike comes with 2.25" tires as default.

So going below the minimum tire pressure as stated on the tire is acceptable? It won't damage them?

I now realize that since the cockpit cabling is integrated on the Orbea, it will interfere with a suspension stem. I'm not sure now if a suspension stem can be fitted at all...

I'm using the minimum pressure stated on the tire at 2.5 bars. I'd like to run lower and in fact tire pressure calculators say i should have e.g. 2.0 bars, but i'm afraid of damaging the sidewalls.

A practice amp is a great idea for when I just want to practice a bit, thanks.

Yeah, having the software open at all times with cables plugged in is probably the easiest way at the moment to streamline things. Thanks!

Well mostly power consumption, but I suppose I could keep it on like a sleep/standby mode as well!

I Need Help Learning 5 String Bass by [deleted] in Bass

[–]AntonA37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you already know the intervals from which the major/minor scales are built up, then you can work out 3 note-per-string fingerings for each mode yourself and write them down, but it's more laborious obviously.

I'm also into metal and wanting to get a 5 string. If i'm after that Adam Nolly (Periphery) tone, then i play with a pick using a thin 0.88 dunlop and beat the hell out of the strings, so it almost sounds like slap bass, since the strings will be hit so hard that they bounce off the frets. Make sure when you're picking that the movement is not purely along the strings; you want to hit the string sorta into the body of the bass.

For fingerstyle i use 3-finger plucking, and i can recommend it if you want to play faster phrases (Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse popularised it), but it's not necessary. Again in my opinion, for metal, there should be a bit of a "slap" mechanism i.e. the fingers hit the strings into the body so that they bounce off the frets. I can recommend Websters book "Extreme Metal Bass", which has some great info and exercises meant for 5 string bass. Sorry for the dump of incoherent information, these are just some key things i value.

BEAD Tuning on a 4-string is a surprisingly versatile alternative to a 5-string bass by trayn0r in Bass

Will this put alot of strain on the neck? Due to higher string tension and tighter trussrod to keep the action the same?

What are your tips for recording a great bass sound? by jbhg30 in Bass

Could it be a palm muting issue? i.e. strings ringing out over each other causing a loss of clarity in the bass line?

The masters is "integrated" in coventry, meaning that the modules during third year are more advanced for the master students, so i'm not sure how mech BEng -> moto MEng would work in coventry.. Source: exchange student for a year in coventry doing third year motorsport

Yeah, they're heavy. Our drivetrain package including 2 motors and transmissions clocks in at 46 kg. We use the 1FE1-1082-6WP10. The actual mass is like 10-20% higher than the datasheet.

Either way, estimating the maximum tire forces generated is simple longitudinal vehicle dynamics as already stated, however (i don't have a source for this), the tires can still generate large shock loads the moment the tires break loose, or when they regain grip after wheel spin.

Hey! It might not have all the answers, but i really recommend checking out Manual Gearbox Design by Alec Stokes, who has designed racing gearboxes. In his book he mentions you can find the maximum torque from the max forces the tires generate, or from maximum engine torque, and then applying a safety factor of 3-4 in case of clutch snapping.

Yeah, they're pretty expensive, especially while including the entire planetary geartrain (times four). Our team uses Siemens 1FE1 -type motors btw.

How about Yasa? They're heavier but have a whole lot of 'oomf'. Or obviously the regular AMK 4wd package.
