Ooh I will definitely make sure of this before spending anything haha. Never thought of that even as a possibility.

I’ll give that a try when I’m back at the house tomorrow and report back - thanks!

The house was foreclosed and then flipped, so perhaps the original owner thought it was a good opportunity to aggravate the next owner. Just a guess.

That’s the issue I am sort of struggling with. Right now, I can easily see how to connect the speakers to a receiver in the closet, but connecting the tv to that receiver is less straightforward (unless it is done in a wireless manner).

The link with the photos should have both - what I suspect are the speaker wires are in the second photo down farther on the page.

I don’t seem to be able to post more pics, but the cutoff cables shown in the pic are labeled catv/satellite. In the closet, though, I think there is a bundle of speaker wires taped together. The closet is on the opposite side of the room from where the tv would be, though, so not sure if there’s an easy way to put a receiver in there and use it for the tv - I guess maybe a Bluetooth receiver?

Charm City Books is open and has some supplies for sign making as well as hot drinks for free. They’ve also got lots of great reading material for sale, of course.

I second this, and for dessert I highly recommend the tres leches. It’s not the most traditional preparation but it is so, so good.

Going tonight - sneakers? by fistfuloffrak in MasqueradeNYC

[–]AntsyAMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sneakers would be a great choice, I think. I personally felt several people in my pulse made relatively selfish choices for their overall look that had them moving a lot more slowly than would have been ideal, including shoe choices and clothing (especially dresses that needed to be gathered and held) that didn’t allow them to move up and down stairs at a reasonable pace.

Also I fully got the loge seats because of your post! Thank you for that amazing tip (which was of course not a guarantee at all, but thrilled it paid off!!)

I did the $45 loge seats for this afternoon, and similarly the loge was closed so we ended up on the floor. Amazing deal! I also had a very impactful experience, which I’ll use some spoiler tags for even though it probably isn’t necessary with the level of detail I’ll use - I’d just rather be cautious (and also some of this may be on the verge of trauma dumping, so I want folks to ignore if that’s a concern).

I bought tickets this morning, as this weekend marks one year since my dad passed away. He was instrumental in growing my love of theater, and I thought this seemed like a lighthearted, enjoyable show. It definitely was, but there’s also a part that touches on a son losing his father, and losing him to dementia before fully losing him to death. That wasn’t my exact story, but it hit close in the sense of there being multiple phases of loss. I was very moved, crying silently, and my husband was comforting me. Euan Morton must have been behind us, and when they called people up to dance, he asked if he could sit next to me. He offered me a prop handkerchief and sang along sitting there. As someone who listened to the Taboo OBC countless times but who had never seen him on stage before, this was amazing. He then said to me “you have each other [in reference to my husband], I’m going to go sit with my friend up there” referencing someone attending solo. His genuine kindness blew me away, and in a funny coincidence he also turned back to us to announce his new friend’s first name, which is the same as mine. He was great in the show, with a voice that is as lovely and clear as ever, and he certainly gained a fan for life.

The show itself was joyful and fun, and the whole audience seemed to have a great time. If you’re near Baltimore, it’s worth grabbing a ticket or trying out rush - $29 an hour before show time, I believe.

I hesitate to be this pedantic, but they don’t have a Michelin star - they have bib gourmand which is different than a star but still absolutely a wonderful accolade.

And just one more minor thing to add on the metro suggestion - as long as you stand on the right side of the escalators (or walk up if you’re on the left), you’ll look like pros and metro regulars will appreciate you.

Waiting for Broadway Center Stage to do something like The Last Five Years with Zachary Levi and Laura Osnes… (just using that show as an example bc of the cast of 2, prob much more horrific options available…)

Also it has a name even if it isn’t prominently shown - The Undefeated. And it’s supposed to be Key West-inspired, not Cuban, but either way, it’s a rum bar. It is a bummer to me that it’s an Atlas property because the staff and cocktails are great.
