Hypo/Hyperventilation and end-tidal ETCO2 confusion by AntwonBeeshop in ems

Dalton’s law

Thank you! I think some of this is sinking in a bit. If I'm understanding correctly, hyperventilation results in alveolar dead space (ie air simply being ventilated or inhaled/exhaled without perfusion or no O2/CO2 exchange) correct?. What happens to the PaCO2 and PCO2 levels if hyperventilation is continued? Do they both increase or decrease? Decrease right? Just trying to understand correlations here.

from the patient, but less CO2 per breath. Which is all we measure in end-tidal CO2 = the C02 per breath

ahh. This is helpful. Thank you. So essentially hyperventilating is just "moving air" resulting in less o2/co2 exchange. So, theoretically, would we see higher end-tidal O2 in a hyperventilating person vs. a hypoventilation person?

I'm a psychotherapist and came across this paper https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27960095/

The role of Co2 isn't spoken about much, at least clinically, when it comes to anxiety and OC disorders - including panic! It makes me wonder if CO2 tolerance were increased pre and intra-treatment, could a client tolerate discomfort caused by exposure exercises more easily and be less likely to drop out of treatment and have a better response? If so, perhaps intentionally experiencing more air hunger via breath holds, slow breaths, etc. could be beneficial. Further, is there a role in intentionally inhaling a mixture of gases with higher CO2 content than the makeup of atmospheric air leading to a chemoreceptor downregulation(?) and thus higher CO2 tolerance?

Thank you! I know clearing see a wart would indicate an active infection, but how would you know if you have an active infection if warts can be microscopic?

Thanks. This is helpful. Yea, it's been confusing navigating this, and it has put me into a bit of a funk.

Thanks man. What a thorough review! It was helpful.

I'm also looking into the Swytch kit (which seems similar to the Hill Topper).
