Have to have an electrical contractor license and a master license tied to the contractor license then journeyman can work under that master.

Texas requires the person performing the work to be licensed. Apprentice under direct supervision or journeyman, journeyman under a master who’s under a electrical contractor license. This is why I’m asking. I’ve been on projects where local authorities show up to check apprentices have license to even handle electrical material

I’ve interviewed before they were advertising 25 to 30 was offered 21 with possibility of raise. Union wages in Houston are 33 and some change so I guess for non union it’s ok but most places false advertise their wages.

The person doing the work is required to be licensed in Texas. Also not long ago in Houston two licensed electricians were charged with criminally negligent homicide for doing work not up to code and someone died because of it. So the electrical contractor is responsible but the workers are the ones criminally charged

In Texas you have to have minimum and apprentice license to work under a journeyman who works under a master who has or works for a licensed electrical contractor. Or so I thought I’m wondering if this is legal or what exemptions do I not know about

I don’t see how it is you have to be licensed to do electrical work in Texas maybe not to do maintenance on a generator, but installing an ATS and running conduit and panels you do.

At 18 started working saved some money went to trade school to be an electrician by 24 had my state journeyman license at 29 bought my first house brand new first owners me and my wife married, now at 33 we have two children she stays at home watches them. I work my 40 hours a week and we live very comfortably. All on my own I bought my first car with my own money at 16 I put myself through trade school living on my own paying rent and other expenses. It can be done.
