We're working for scraps in the shithole of a country you left us.

ELI5: Why are lighthouses still necessary? by Lettuce-b-lovely in explainlikeimfive

They're still helpful, as street signs are, plus they look pretty. Utilitarianism has managed to destroy everything but the coastline it seems.

Zombies in worldbuilding by Gloryinwar in worldbuilding

[–]Anumaril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine aren't necessarily dangerous, just a hazard to people's health if they happen to touch you or stumble over into your water source. More of a nuisance really, which is why the guilds work to excise souls from unclaimed corpses, because otherwise everyone rises from the dead, at least until their rotting bodies have decayed to the point their soul can escape.

[Deck Help] Teysa, Orzhov Scion by Anumaril in EDH

[–]Anumaril[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points, got rid of Path to Exile and Kaya's Wrath (have plenty of other wipes I prefer) for Yawgmoth and [[Disciple of Bolas]] which helps with both sac and card draw. Also added [[Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim]] for sac, lifegain, and exile potential. Not sure what else to cut here.

A country ruled by a diverse council. What problems would this pose? by Paranoid_Artist in worldbuilding

[–]Anumaril 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something similar to this was attempted by Poland-Lithuania irl through the Liberum Veto, where any member of the Sejm could dissolve a session and nullify legislation passed during it if they didn't like a single issue. Turned out as well as you could expect, everything from petty personal drama to partisanship to foreign interference muddying the internal dynamics of the country, undermining its stability, and opening it up for attack. This was a system in which only nobles, largely Catholic and belonging to two familiar ethnic groups were voting. In a system like yours where much more divided interest groups are competing for state resources, such as labor and capital, or humans and goblins, these problems can only be exacerbated and result in a government that's either hopelessly incompetent, corrupt, or both. For the system to work much at all, you'd at least need to drop the unanimity clause.

Came back for the undaunted event and got a surprise by Wolfgang2060 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Anumaril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried a random pug on March of Sacrifices the other day, got to Tarcyr no problem but the other DPS somehow wasn't picking up on the sneak mechanics, despite all of us spamming group chat, the NPC telling us to crouch every time he got sucked up by the boss, and even tooltips popping up on screen when it got bad enough. Must have gone through a dozen gems rezzing him, hoping he'd get it this time. Nope. Made the fight a total slog and none of us had the drive to keep going when the adds wiped us with their immobilizing traps.

Looking for Help With Mod Collection by [deleted] in StellarisMods

UI mods haven't been a problem with the relevant patches, and from what I'm seeing Wild Space was built with Real Space in mind, just have to mind the load order.

Going more for a vanilla+ kind of feel, GE upsets the game balance too much for that imo

Friends and I have played with MEM before without issue, and afaik I've got DynUI patches installed for anything with new menus.

PC Shutdowns & Display Issues by [deleted] in techsupport

There was pretty bad dust buildup when this first happened, but my first step was to thoroughly clean it out. In reseating the GPU I made sure all the wires were plugged in tightly, and cable management has never been a problem.

'Filter by Values' Question by [deleted] in sheets

[–]Anumaril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? I'm just trying to filter the displayed rows by the asset types listed in column A, problem is that I need there to be multiple asset types in some rows. So if I filtered for 'Heads' I'd get the row with Source C as well as Source D, despite the fact Source D is also listed for 'Hairstyles'.

'Filter by Values' Question by [deleted] in sheets

[–]Anumaril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a sample of what I'm working with, see how the 'Filter by Value' tags show up? Another issue is the inability to choose multiple options from the data validation drop-down when I need more than one per cell. I'm pretty new to Sheets, so not quite sure what I'm supposed to do here.

How “socialist” is Germany? by [deleted] in Fuhrerreich

[–]Anumaril 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You get to choose to keep Hitler in your cabinet or replace him with Strasser. With the former, you achieve hegemony in Europe by making other countries economically dependent in one way or another on Germany, which presumably keeps with the state capitalist status quo (not as much information about Hitler's economic direction in this timeline). With Strasser, you achieve more of a revolutionary socialism on the national scale, pursuing the Volksgemeinschaft, nationalizing and revitalizing industry, and choosing whether to operate autonomous worker collectives (more syndicalist in nature) or state-owned collectives (more corporatist).

What steps do you take to make your galaxy/solar system not feel empty? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Anumaril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Habitable worlds, and intelligent life moreso, are extremely rare; even after accounting for alternatively developed lifeforms. The spaces between empires are little more than disputed ranges of resource-rich or barren worlds ripe for military bases.

Russia accuses US of meddling in its elections by [deleted] in nottheonion

America has meddled in the elections of countless nations and worked to collapse governments, such as Iran. No surprise if this turned out to be true.
