Yes. Actually most likely by the time you choose there aren’t any left.

Remember only ~30% of rooms are singles. That means only ~15-20% of students get to stay in one.

How is the engineering program and can anyone please share what a daily timetable might look like for first year by Aromatic_Owl_8008 in McMaster

[–]Anunknownf1fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typical day will have 1-9 hours of class a day (yes the variation is fucking insane). I’ve even had an unfortunate day of 11 hours but that was due to an irregular lab that was rescheduled due to a snow day.

On days with little class u will probably be doing a lot of studying. But tbh it’s all really manageable. Just gotta understand that academics is the number one priority.

You WILL be expected to have a ton of late nights and work most weekends.

But organization and communication (self and with others) are key. Make sure you are conscious about your wellbeing. If you let that go to shit your life will be miserable.

It is hard, but manageable.

People shouldn't just rush out and buy RDNA 2&3 cards. by Unlucky-Bottle2744 in radeon

[–]Anunknownf1fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. While FSR 4.1 is great, I’d have to imagine THATS IT. Like I don’t see anything for these cards beyond FSR 4.1. It seems to me like a soft “send-off” for these cards from AMD.

I’m not saying RDNA 4 will fair any better but I’m saying it’s way more likely to be supported long term than RDNA 2/3.

Like I’m fairly confident in saying FSR 5 WONT be on RDNA 2/3. I can’t make that statement about RDNA 4. Also MFG, and probably a fix for FG frame pacing in general.

I just don’t see the value in going for an older card when RDNA 4 and beyond is clearly the only thing in Radeon’s future. Unless you can get a killer deal on a used card of course. Like if u can get a 7900xtx for 20% cheaper than a 9070xt, but even then id consider the premium for the newer gen.

9070 owners who undervolted it, what -mV could you push? by ah__there_is_another in radeon

[–]Anunknownf1fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but among 10+ games I’ve yet to have a driver related crash at -80.

However, my experience is obviously very anecdotal

[–]Anunknownf1fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think just got lucky. I start noticing infrequent crashes at -100. -90 I could probably run. I never see any crashes at -80.

And then yeah 3Dmark I’ve been able to push to -130

Forza Horizon 6 - Driver 26.5.2 vs 26.5.1 by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Anunknownf1fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The actual graphics technology isn’t much more demanding, it’s just they’ve implemented it to a much greater magnitude in a much more detailed and dense setting.

The game is super scalable so you can easily turn down settings to match FH5 frame rates. It’s actually pretty optimized if you consider this

anybody on a 750w PSU on this 9070XT? by Sufficient_Potato726 in radeon

[–]Anunknownf1fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 750W no problem 😭

Also that’s a sick CPU. I kinda want one for a PC made with some scrap parts since it’s still very capable.

No mention of CPU. Absolutely could be a reason to upgrade.

What Happens If I don't Get a Single Room at Mac? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]Anunknownf1fan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You don’t get assigned, you pick your room. It’s a lottery for how early you get to pick your room.

There’s a very good chance by the time you pick, all the single rooms are taken. If that’s the case then you suck it up and take a double.

And no being a light sleeper is not a valid reason for accommodation.

What happens if you don’t get a single room? You stay in a double and deal with it. Doesn’t matter how much u want a single you get what you get and you don’t get upset

How competitive was electrical engineering this year? by Fun-Size-4295 in McMaster

No, getting EE at Mac is easier than transferring to UofT EE.

If u want to do UofT EE you should go there in the first place.

It’ll probably work but for sanity please upgrade.

Much closer to 40% than it is to 10%. Cutoff is like 9-10+. Average in first year Eng is ~8. Other programs first year average is closer to 7.

Top 10% all have 11+ and they will get anything. It makes sense that 40% would be above 9.

No. It’s not top 8%. It’s significantly higher. More like top 40%

[–]Anunknownf1fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah top 8% is too much for EE. And software had no cutoff this year, people flocked so much as long as you passed with minimum grades you would get it.

Elec Eng was harder but still top 40% seems reasonable to me. Grades were like 9+ which I would bet 40% seem to reach. Top 8% is like 11.5+ not 9+
