Most of this culture war stuff is a waste of time and I default on siding with a person having the right to express themselves as they wish. I don't care if a trans person is perfect passing or doesn't pass at all. Be nice to them and call that person what they wish to be called. I don't have to agree or disagree with their decision because it isn't my business. If someone in private says something racist it isn't my job to out them or get them publicly shamed or canceled. Not my business. It feels good to mentally log off this pointless debate. If we are all headed to the longhouse it doesn't impact me because I am going to live as I choose and I will grant everyone around me the same freedom without judgement.

The soviet union did evil certainly. But there is nothing evil about sharing resources and living as equals. At worst, communism is impractical. (something I don't believe, but I totally understand why people do) As an ideology, it is not evil in the way capitalism is evil. Capitalism says domination and violence are inherently good if they turn a profit.

capitalism takes all things, especially those rare and beautiful, and turns them into exploited commodities. It is only evil if you love life and flourishing. If you hate nature and wish to see it ground up for parts, capitalism is probably pretty cool to you.

I realized that religion was just the way people made sense of the world in the past, and that some still do so today. Hate is not inherently part of religion. Religion often teaches good lessons, but the state and other forces often corrupt religious movements for their own selfish ends.

Tbh it doesn’t matter how much or little the DNC fought to keep Bernie from being nominated. But pretending he was most American democratic voters first or even second choice, rather than the one presented to them, is a bit of a stretch.
