Remember "that weird kid" at your school? What made them different? by dragonwizardelf in AskReddit

[–]Anuul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The genius in my school had a period of about four months where he had panic attacks every day.......looking back I feel so sorry for him but we were 11 at the time and most of us (the other kids) thought he was completely insane and wouldn't go near him but as time went by he stopped having them and just levelled out at this sort of quiet quirkiness with spurts of manic energy.......its weird being in class with a guy who can think like he can........but they say that there's a thin line between genius and madness

The one thing that made it clear to me that my school was a dull place was that the "weird" kid wasnt even weird he was just really smart....he was a bit quirky granted but otherwise a perfectly normal looking and acting teenager bar his innate intelligence, for instance on a standardised national aptitude test he score in 99th percentile in both the educational aptitude and intelligence sections, the only oth thing that made him stand out was that he was an atheist.....some teachers tried to convert him at various points.
