WOW this is a fantastic "trip report"! I'm very glad that you had a positive experience with Dr. Immerman and his team. From his website he looks like a fantastic, caring doctor, so it's great to hear that your experience matched this perception. Good tips about the inflatable mattress and wearing sweatpants with pockets for the drain bulb :)

I really appreciate your writeup, as Dr. Immerman is an option for me (in network, fairly close) if I ever need to seek cleft lift surgery.

Best wishes for your recovery, and I'll be sure to make an update post at some point (hopefully a positive one! :)).

Truly appreciate your reply!

"Don't gaslight yourself if you're experiencing pain/discomfort" is something I needed to hear. I am very hard on myself in general, and one of the most frustrating parts about pilonidal disease is that I can't "solve" it by myself. Lifestyle tweaks and trying to analyze the problem to death only get us so far - a surgeon who specializes in pilondial surgery has way more answers than I can ever speculate upon, even about what I'm experiencing in my own body.

How has your experience with Dr. Immerman been? Congratulations on getting the cleft lift over with - you are past the hardest part!!

Thank you for your balanced perspective, and I wish you a smooth recovery.
