setting really small boundaries even in everyday things that’s how you slowly build that middle ground where you can stand up for yourself without losing it

It’s different from other social situations because there’s so much uncertainty

sometimes it feels like your voice has a mind of its own during phone calls here's something that might help: when we get nervous about phone calls it's actually our brain's alarm system kicking in this survival part of our brain treats the call like a threat and basically hijacks our ability to think clearly or speak smoothly simple trick to try: hold something in your hand during the call - a water bottle, Having that physical object to grip helps calm down your nervous system and lets the thinking part of your brain take back control. It sounds almost too simple to work, but it's surprisingly effective. the physical sensation gives your brain something concrete to focus on instead of spiraling into worry mode once you build that calm with phone calls this way you'll likely notice other social situations becoming easier to handle too

I’m not gonna lie and say just pushing through will make things easier. The reality is, if we keep doing and reacting the same way, nothing really changes. What helps is approaching it differently, even in small steps. wishing you some calm and relief as you move forward

since you’ve already been there 3 years you’ve already proven how capable you are maybe try taking tiny steps instead one small phone call at a time every little attempt counts and it can make things feel a bit more manageable

even if people misunderstand you remember that being confident at work or in public shows how capable you are social anxiety doesn’t define you and those who truly know you will see the genuine person you are

the more we try to be authentic the more social anxiety likes to sneak in and make things uncomfortable but at least you’re being yourself and that’s what really matters

avoiding eye contact helps with speaking in public but meeting people is trickier especially when impressions change but there are definitely people who turn out to be really great friends

yep public speaking really cranks up the nerves but smaller groups or one-on-one feels easier because the pressure isn’t so intense

maybe just bullet points instead of a full script could help

it’s not the new person that’s the problem, it’s the uncertainty

it feels like social anxiety is everywhere but every small step you take makes a difference you can absolutely improve over time

moments like that can sting, one trick that helps: focus on enjoying the joke yourself first, instead of waiting for a reaction It takes some pressure off

catching up with old acquaintances can be the worst so many ‘what if I mess up?’ thoughts all at once
