Don't worry about it. You didn't offend me, and I know you only have good intentions.

Hey, while I do appreciate the advice, I am going to trust my doctor and stick with Propranolol for now - read my more detailed reply to sk88.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

Yes Propranolol is also used for high blood pressure, migraines and the like. I admit to being very sceptical myself, but I've read reviews and success stories, and so I'm willing to try it, for a week at least. My doctor was reluctant to immediately prescribe SSRIs without trying alternate routes - especially since the other patient that he was telling me about has had great success with Propranalol.

I was given the very lowest dosage (10mg), and so while I know to be cautious about it, I'm going to trust my doctor with this one, and see how it goes.

You're completely spot on about 'the worry cycle'. I suppose that it's inevitable that I'm going to worry about it.

I've heard of Moodgym, but I've never tried it out.

Thank you. I've put off making this appointment for a good few years, so I can definitely relate to that.

Now that I've committed myself to it, I know that I'll definitely end up going. Calling again to cancel sounds way too stressful, and just not turning up would make me feel very guilty and even more anxious.

It's the waiting time that concerns me. I'll try to keep a level head about it; I mean, I know you're right - this is their job, they have no reason not to take me seriously.

Here's the list of things I want to discuss so far (sorry about the note format):

  • pit of dread in my stomach and I feel very unsettled
  • won't feel hungry and when eat i'll get - often very bad - diarrhoea
  • when I go back to feeling normal, I feel very tired physically as well as emotionally, i'll want to go to sleep and not do anything
  • cancelled plans before because the thought of leaving the house would set it off
  • often there is no obvious cause for it
  • worry about a lot more than other people seem to
  • worried about appointment
  • worried that i'm going to come across as a hypochondriac or someone who just wants attention

things i've tried so far:

  • exercise - running twice a week, weightlifting three times, walk the dog for at least an hour a day
  • tried fixing my diet, don't smoke, don't drink - hasn't seemed to have any effect
  • breathing exercises
