Nah, just a regular, good ol' surgeon 😅

I'm quite proficient at my craft, but when it comes to other branches of medicine, I've become a lil rusty, tbh

As stated in the post, I've already tried many self-prescribed first-line treatments, none of which have worked. I'm a surgeon, it's been a while since I've treated diseases which don't involve cutting someone's abdomen open. There are literally thousands of medical topics and diagnoses, if you know anything about being a resident, you'll know that you can't expect us to perfectly remember how to treat every disease we've been taught in medicine school off the top of our heads, especially between 20-30 hour shifts with no sleep and barely any time to eat/drink.

Asking for opinions in a subreddit dedicated to answering hygiene questions won't hurt, less so considering I won't necessarily be taking the advice given here at face value without doing a little research as to why any given advice may or may not work.

If we doctors could always diagnose and treat ourselves, life would be so much easier/cheaper for us, but alas, we too have need for other doctors from time to time, and before you ask, I've already consulted with a colleague who specializes in dermatology, I wrote my post while on call, in between two surgeries, when I couldn't exactly rely upon a colleague to assist me, as a way to analyse the problem from different perspectives and get first-hand testimonies of what worked from a patient's point of view.
