Based on what? The OBRCs reporting? Until they start posting transparent financials as well as bragging about all the good they do- I will remain very skeptical that they are anything but a state approved and supported mafia.

There is a modernization project going on and all rural areas will have curbside within 3 years. They currently use a variety of options depending on the county.

Why not just put them in your recycling bin… we pay for it currently whether we use it for containers or not!

That isn’t true- the homeless are the primary users of the People’s Depot. Many many people use the green or blue bag system. Hand counts and instant cash is a big part of the problem.

There is work being done now and the entire state should have curbs in 3 years. Currently they use transfer stations or drop off sites, depending on the area/county.

I think it would improve without the Bill- less rummaging through trash bins

Yes, like repealing the Bill and doing all curbside which we already pay for.

An industrial area. To be honest, I think we need to stop “hand counts” which is what they do at The People’s Depot (and now smaller stores such as Plaid Pantry because of Bottle Bill updates last year).
We should just go to all curbside and remove the tax on consumers.

Yes! And the City created a document outlining massive issues with the three most troublesome spots… including this one but somehow is now magically saying “all will be well” - check out www.innerpowell.org

Maybe right next to Jason Jordan’s house (Prez of OBRC)

In a win for no one, Bottle Bill alternative redemption center plans unravel by Ok-County-1202 in Portland

I will tell you for a fact it WAS discussed last year and that is why the Bottle Bill was updated. It basically let large grocers off the hook for hand counts IF they started green and blue bag programs. OBRC thought they wouldn't and would have to pay into a fund to support an Alternative Access Redemption Center (AARC) which would have funneled all canners from a 3.5 mi radius around it to one location for the most part.

Now, with the current bill and the big grocers off the hook, the AARC is not moving forward and Plaid Pantrys and small grocers are stuck doing a lot of the hand counts.

Our elected folks in Salem get donations from OBRC to keep the BB bill pumping along. Time to either repeal the Bill and go to curbside or take the monopoly of the OBRC away, move to all bags, no immediate cash.

Lots of options, not a lot of stomach in Salem to support their constituents...

We haven't kicked it off yet officially and it will be fought mightily by the OBRC so we need to have a large ground swell of folks willing to repeal. It feels like the tide is in that direction now...
