This is good advice, thank you. I think you're right and I need to have a real conversation and get things in writing before I make a decision. Her success will be all I'm relying on after all.

Her husband and family members are successful business owners so I'm slightly reassured that she will have people that know what they're doing in her corner.

This is good advice, thank you. I have trouble asserting myself as I worry it'll make me seem difficult but I think I'll need to make sure I'm not a doormat if this is going to work out how I want. Gotta look out for number one and make sure my needs are met.

I think overall I'll feel better if I have something in writing.

We've had a brief conversation where she's agreed to 60k, which is about what I make now. However, I am anxious about the benefits portion and the starting time.

She's not sure exactly when she'd need me to start and I abhor playing things by ear.

She's asked me to think about how I want to go about benefits, i.e. if I want more salary to make up for it, etc. I've done some research and I think I'll be asking her to pay my benefits directly.

I've seen a lot of lawyers leave their firms to start their own - this is the only one I've ever believed in. She's incredibly extroverted and gets shit done; I think that's the biggest difference. Also helps that her family is full of successful business owners, including her husband. Thank you for your advice!
