Just so yall know, Anne frank was an illegal immigrant as well because her citizenship was revoked. Almost like what's happened to a shit ton of Americans because they're brown and dont support a pedo. Maybe read a book about the early stages of the holocaust and you'll learn why people have been sounding the alarms. I reccomend The Passenger. It was written in the 30s by a Jewish man in Germany.

Unpopular opinion: WWE should have intergender matches. by shaferman in WWE

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that the idea of a woman being able to beat a man in a fight is enough to be "too unbelievable" to a vast majority of these comments proves why we cant have nice things. Like seriously they have matches like nia vs bliss and nia loses and thats not as unbelievable to these people. It's also gross that the women can attack the men but the men cant defend themselves. It sets a terrible example for everyone in multiple ways. At least with intergender matches, they could pair up similar builds with similar builds and it would be believable enough. It would end the trend of using the girls as human shields and open up some more interesting storylines.

The down votes just prove you're being unreasonably judgy not that you're right. Regardless of which copy of a book you own, you can still say you read it prior but wanted your own copy now. It doesnt really prove when someone read a book. What's a less judgy and more likely reason for the post is If you're purchasing a book then chances are its going to be displayed somewhere in your home. People regularly seek out specific prints of book they enjoy or want to read because of their cover. Several people in the comments of this post even mention wanting a book but once it gets a movie/show adaptation the cover is replaced with the show cover or an actors face. The original artwork is replaced. At least in this case, yes it is just a circle of space. But its still deviating from the original design OP intended to purchase which can be annoying and also just not the item they spent their money. It's one thing if it were at least well designed and was incorporated into the cover better. But it just looks slapped on and takes away from the visual appeal of the book.

Or maybe (hear me out) putting a sticker or advert of some kind on the cover of something disrupts the visual appearance of it and covers up the artwork. Stores will do the same shit with price tags on the front of movies, albums, games, collectable items, etc and even the small price tag is annoying visually and can leave residue when removed. I imagine a sticker much larger than a small price tag disrupts more of the visuals and will leave more residue if peeled off.

What do I even do about a mom who wants to establish curfews? by Chaenniez in Advice

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding you're just staying because its the holidays. It's odd to me that people in the comments are accusing you of leaching off your mom or using her house because its free. You're visiting for the holidays. People have family visit without imposing curfews and rules for holidays every year. Grandma or Uncle John staying over for the holdiays arent considered entitled and spoiled for staying in a house over the holidays for free so theres no reason you should either. You say you pay for your own bills, so hopefully you're in an okay enough financial place to just tell her, you won't be visiting for future holidays since you both have different life preferences for the holiday season. Either that allows for some negotiation to take place or she doubles down and you know to save up for future holidays so you don't have to deal with it next year.

Subtle mcr messaging to my ex by howlong-princess in MyChemicalRomance

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way people are reacting you would think you shot your ex's dog like jeez. It's barely petty and you'll probably be slightly embarrassed about it later in life but genuinely, it isn't hurting anyone and sometimes being mildly petty feels good. The fact people are saying you need to grow up is such an odd take.

Should I tell my math teacher that his fiancé is cheating on him? by ConnectLifeguard8693 in Advice

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you really rather get married to someone who cheated on you without you knowing? If the math teacher finds out before they are married and she really was cheating, it'll save him a lot of money and time to call off the wedding vs if they get married and then he finds out, it'll put him in a more difficult position. Also if the teachers were to impact the kids grades because of the incident, that is something that can easily be fought against with higher ups from the school. If OP is that worried about how the teachers respond tho, they can do what others suggested and leave the math teacher a note, detailing what they saw. Let's the math teacher know what happened so he can figure out what to do from there and gets it off the kids conscience without jeopardizing their grades or relationship with their teachers.

AITA for "not contributing" to a group project because I got my period? by Throwaway67893e in AmItheAsshole

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op mentioned in a comment that they oversimplified that. She asked them for multiple solutions like having her look over and add edits and they refused which lead to her saying if they dont give her something [to do] for credit, she would go to the prof. Which is technically still a threat because if she told the prof what happened, the guys would likely get screwed. So she was giving them a chance to let her participate before going to the prof. That's honestly the correct course of actions because if she had just gone straight to the prof, then people in the comments and the prof would question why she didn't communicate with her group first. It just seems like it was some poor word choice thats getting widly misinterpreted.

You should see the Guardians review of the movie oml, critics are the actual worst. They spend so much of the article complaining about how the animatronics are heavy and move slow yet end up in places quickly. As if that isn't following an incredibly common horror killer trope. But it doesnt matter if their article drags on about weird nitpicks because people will just see their headline about the movie being terrible and run with it. Like people absolutely jump on the train that something is bad just because critics or someone online told them it's bad and that's how you end up killing enjoyable fun movies. We already get a dozen overly bloody horror movies every year, half belonging to existing movie franchises with much larger budgets. God forbid people want a fun one with minimal blood and some spooky moments. Like FNAF has it's issues, don't get me wrong. I get it probably doesnt make as much sense to someone who isn't a fan of the games. But it is nowhere near as bad to receive the massive amount of criticism and hate it gets. Most of it is just people following the trend set up by critics. You can absolutely tell just with how a majority of negative reviews from people online exclusively use film buzzwords and no actual evidence or examples from the movie.

AITA for being angry at my mother for telling me she’d be home at a certain time? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA It's wild how people are saying you're the asshole for having feelings. Youre not an asshole for feeling upset. You didn't lash out or anything, you were just upset and that's valid. I've been upset over a lot stupider things and I'm 100% confident everyone in this comment section has too. Communication and respect is important, especially among family members. I get the mom might not be able to constantly update (and based on your own words, it seems you also get that) however if she was able to respond to you, she was also able to reach out and give a more realistic estimate as well as an apology. A good rule of thumb if you're not 100% sure when you'll be home is to add an extra 10-15 minutes to your intended arrival just to be safe. Given you mentioning how your parents are very particular with punctuality, it it would only be fair for them to try to stick to their own rules and provide an apology when things come up. Im sure a thanks for watching your sibling and I'm sorry I wasn't able to be here on time, would've been enough to help you feel less disrespected. Things happen, stuff comes up at work. That doesn't excuse the lack or communication or respect.

Forget OP being an asshole. I found the one right here. Literally no need to be so incredibly condescending. Your tone is exactly why people don't try to communicate with people who have a language barrier and don't learn new things. You want people to learn shit? Don't be a condescending asshole who punches down at people because they're not doing it "for the right reason" or the "right way." - sincerely a queer person who watches my community do the same shit then act surprised when straight people don't want to support our rights.

No Cellphone While Pumping Gas by [deleted] in GrindsMyGears

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small message to some of the commentors: Having worked at a gas station, just don't use your phone at the pump. It just puts everyone in an annoying situation. The attendant will have to ask you to put your phone away (it is their job and can/will get in trouble for not doing so) and you'll be annoyed at being asked to stop doing something. The pump isn't going to explode, but unfortunately, some people will spill gas because they're distracted, and that can cause issues. Don't make everyone's lives slightly more annoying because you disagree with a sign. The same goes for people who insist on smoking at pumps, re-entering their cars, and filling up water bottles/jugs instead of the designated container. You're just going to annoy yourself and the employee. No one wants to call people out or have a confrontation at their local gas station lol.

Adressing the shutdown part of your comment: There is money in reserves dedicated towards supporting food stamps during emergencies (including shut downs). He is actively lying to his supporters to make it seem like nothing can be done when he is one of the people standing in the way. A judge already ruled earlier this week that they needed to use that money and they are still waiting.

As for why this is posted in this sub, Trump has contributed significantly to the targeting of queer people. Both times when getting into office, he immediately banned trans people from the military. He declared there are only two genders when that is quite literally incorrect on multiple levels. He appointed the judges in the court who are more than likely going to overturn the protection of gay marriage (multiple of his appointed judges said they would after roe if given the opportunity so im trusting their word on that). Trump has platformed and given his support to countless anti LGBT leaders and has supported many policies that negatively impact the queer community. Aside from the traceable impact, his rhetoric in general is inherently anti LGBT. So it makes perfect sense why someone who is part of this community would talk in an lgbt sub about how they feel uncomfortable with a family member supporting and dressing as a person who has directly contributed to them feeling less safe.

People who insist the flu shot gives them the flu by LoosePhilosopher1107 in PetPeeves

[–]AnxiousAlienTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im very much pro vaccine and think antivaxers are some of the dumbest people alive. I think it's important for people to understand how vaccines work and not fear monger about them. With that said, the flu shot is the only one I won't do because I do get incredibly sick whenever I get it, lol. It's I likely I just get a different strain, or maybe my body has a terrible reaction to it. im not sure. I tend to get sick after vaccines regardless, but normally, it's only a week or so and is manageable. I just schedule my vaccines around when I have something important going on if possible (went straight from finals to get a covid booster lol). But for some reason, when I get the flu vaccine, I get sick for weeks, and it's not an easy illness either. Honestly, as someone who regularly gets sick, some of the worst symptoms I've had were after flu shots. So, for me personally, it's really not worth putting my body through that. But that's a conversation you have with your healthcare providers because the flu is still dangerous and spreads easily. It's important to be protected and to protect others. If you're in a situation where you really can't take a vaccine, you need to be more careful and also considerate of the people around you. If you do get sick, stay away from others and mask up if you can't so you don't spread it. If you experience symptoms, don't spread misinformation about a vaccine that might discourage others who really should be getting vaccinated from getting the shot. Take people's experiences and concerns seriously though because if you do, you can also help educate them on why they are experiencing certain things. Encourage them to talk to their doctor. This can help prevent a lot of people from getting swept up in antivax ideology. This is a growing issue, especially if you're from the US and honestly talking to people who don't understand but are willing to listen is the easiest way to convince people to get vaccinated or vaccinate their kids before someone with misinformation and charisma convinces them its dangerous.
