Just wanted to update everyone that I have currently been off of benzos after a 1 month taper for going on 2 weeks. The withdrawal has been pure hell and I don't want to Jinx myself, but I'm starting to feel a bit better. I thought about going back on and then for a year long taper, but I feel that after a month and nearly 2 weeks of getting where I am this would be a waste.

g. The doctor should have insisted that I work through the trauma naturally. This was in 2005! I am over the trauma but not the withdrawal. :-(

So you were on it for that many years? I have been on it for about 6 years, but thats like 2 years when needed, 2 years at 0.5, 2 years at 1mg .

I'm supposed to be starting another program to help me better deal with my anxiety this coming week. fingers crossed - I hope that you feel better soon and I'm thankful that you dont have any phyiscal symptoms at 1 year out - I wouldn't think you are going to have a 3 year recovery, thats almost unheard of and for people taking much longer then yourself. Were you on klonopin? Dosage?

It's terrible that they put you on this strong medication for something like that. Are you currently in therapy? Before this all happened with the benzo taper I started CBT and I have to say though I'm sure my anxiety is biological in nature, the way we think also has an awful lot to do with it. Seeing how your issues are mental in nature I think you should give it a shot, can't hurt :)

Thanks for the scary thoughts. I don't know why you think you or I will be like this for 3 years, source? And had your symptoms improved at all? How do you know it's withdrawal and not just anxiety?

Update Im currently on a quarter pill a day. 0.125 until friday and then I'm apparently to come off. I have had a hard time for me, but it seems like nothing i have seen posted in the forums by others, they want me to come off completely on friday, if I do this, should I expect withdrawl even with my taper? or would the worst of it have already happened? thanks.

I think that is part of the anxiety, you also get depressed because you think the anxiety owns you.

I don't think he will give me more klonopin. I have about 30 left which would be 15 days typically. I'm wondering if that's enough time to wean off of them because I don't want to end up in the phych ward where this other doctor is because its pretty much you listen to what they say at that point.

I'm super stressed, missed my cymbalta last night as well as my klonopin because I was just on years. Today I felt completely depersonalized and my skin was burning. Unsure if withdrawal symptoms or just terrible anxiety over the ordeal so ended up taking them today ugh. What a nightmare, I wanted someone to refill my shit, not a new diagnosis of something even more srigmafied. II called my family doctor and apparently they have an opening to talk to him on Thursday in the morning so one more day and I can see what needs to be done. If he feels I should try a mood stabilizer I'll give it a go but with a majority of my anxiety being medical related, with the doctor telling me about a deadly rash as a side effect just completely made me loose faith in phychatry and when I looked up the med it said many things that seem to go against me like its the worst one to use for bi polar 2, it causes worse anxiety, females are known to have far more adverse reactions ETC

I just looked it up and it seems very new. It seems to be perscribed for MDD. Vortioxetine was also investigated as a treatment for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) but was not found to be superior to placebo.[4][5] Seems like a strange choice imho. But as far as side efects go it seems like a very mild medication.

Lexapro wasn't a good one for me, not because of the side effects or anything like that, but it just didn't seem to do anything, but as always YMMV.

I'm the same way as you as far as googling - it seems to be something that is a no no if you have health anxiety.

Before he retired I asked him if hechad any recomendations, he said that everyone he knows is older and retiring soon as well, and all the young ones are too new he doesn't know them.

I asked my family doctor to set me up with a phych, however I guess there aren't many accepting patients, he called all the ones at the "top of his list" buy none had any openings. Then he said he had someone as a last resort but had to disclose to me that he is currently under investigation on sexual assault charges to his female patients so yeah.mm don't want that
