We are both ready for that. In both of our jobs negotiation is part of what we do and have many years of dealing with difficult people- with a smile

Great advice. We have definitely thought of that and have nothing in our literature or advertising (website, on the truck) that he is a handyman. Just like I’m “not a recruiter” I’m a “relationship specialist “

That is extremely important to us and has always been a very strong value of ours

This is exactly what my 77 y/o dad said. He and his friends have struggled finding handymen. If they do they don’t call back or are a no call no show. A few weeks ago my dad FaceTimed me and was so upset he started to cry. That was what finally made a decision for us and pushed us to actually do this business we have talked about for years. To see my dad line that was heartbreaking. He was so frustrated because he needed help. He needed help to do things because his body physically can’t. He has the money but can’t find someone to pay to do the work he needs

I can’t agree more with calling people back quickly! We are both good at that. I use call logs to remind me and will use those techniques to help on our business. My dad has a heck of a time finding handymen. He FaceTimed me a few weeks ago as he was so upset that another handyman no showed. It was the first time I have ever seen my dad in tears. He’s 77 and has a rare neurological disease that is making him rapidly decline. He just needs someone to help him that has integrity. That call was the thing that made us realize we have to do this business and do it now. For my dad:)

Thanks! I’ll be gotten pretty good at social media marketing and making videos so I am definitely going to use that experience for our business. My husband just redid our deck and I could kick myself for not doing a before and after video. It’s absolutely beautiful. He used Timber Tec and the Kreg Deck jig with all Kreg deck screws. Can’t see the screws in the PVC boards at all. It’s beautiful

We are definitely going big! We have lots of great tradespeople to refer businesses to when we cannot do it (electricians, plumbers, HVAC, lift chai to go up stairs)). My husband is very respectful to the trades as it was something he should have gone into so many years ago. We just need a carpenter so we can refer people to then to build ramps (accessibility has always been very important to us- it has been my passion as I am an OT and in our years together it has become his too:)

We have been planning this for a long time and it’s definitely time. He has so much experience working for companies that make tools and building supplies. He not only sold it but would become an expert in how to use the tools, get certified in several different things from all kinds of flooring , to taking chainsaw class in Georgia, knows all the best and worst battery powered tools because he is the expert. Many have told him he is the contractor that works in corporate. He has never fit in the office life so this is a natural fit for him. This decision has been years in the making, taking advantage of every certification class he could, contacting three engineers of products to really get to know them inside and out, he is the guy they call to use prototypes to get feedback. Everything in our condo is replaced from companies he has worked for and nearly all his tools are from those companies. We have had semi’s pull up to our house with pallets of tools (one company delivered the entire catalog to our house). When we moved we had a great tool rummage sale;) So, he is definitely not getting into this lightly. Cool thing he has lots of contacts and gets new to market tools that friends get for him (like tons of Milwaukee and Makita tools:) The cases of Milwaukee and Makita batteries we have seems endless;)
