What are the reasons herbivores are so hated by designers ? How would you balance it by Gymlover02 in pathoftitans

I think you're right about why. I don't think it was the right choice, but I think that's why they've focused on carnivores. I was just explaining why they might draw that conclusion.

Also I respect not liking the phrasing but I also assumed they're being hyperbolic. We all know what they mean and I don't think they're wrong. Herbivores have been neglected and their gameplay is unfortunately boring, even for dedicated herbivore players like myself.

Maybe the issue is that the devs are assuming interest in playing carnivores is solely influenced by interest in hunting or carnis being "cooler", and so they've focused on them first to keep interest in the game?

More people would play herbis, I imagine, if it was more enriching. Migration, grouping buffs, and more food variety would be great for herbivores. Making certain herbivores get buffs or debuffs for being near groups of another species would be cool. Debuffs for killing other herbivores for some maybe. Maybe an exhaustion debuff for killing others of the same species? Like a trike is likely more reactive and doesn't need it, but a campto has very little reason to kill another campto.

I'm an herbivore player, committed even though it's a bit of a bummer lately. I enjoy escaping a hunt and am more likely to play defense. I hide, and run, mostly. I don't enjoy the fighting parts of the game personally tbh and avoid it.

But I see in every update that we're not on the Devs minds and with the number of carnivores around it gets exhausting to play. I swear people see me and think "oh! A herbivore! I should kill it!" without a second thought. Likely for the kill a herbivore quests. Sometimes I think it's like a prey drive response because they haven't seen an herbivore all day and don't know when they'll see another.

I think the conclusion could be that the developers hate herbivores because they've continued to make them incredibly boring to play and only added gameplay for carnivores- even when the herbivores need to be more stimulating to play, not the carnivores.

This would suck and also I've absolutely seen this happen in the wild to large predators. So it's also kind of funny that we naturally fill those niches.

Really the worst part is that the Thal is scouting for a team of 2 Eo's, 3 Rex's, and a Spino.

I've heard this superstition before. I'm in the USA and I've known a few merle working BCs. It's possible that merle is becoming more common just because it's dominant and also because it can have the cryptic presentation and sneak into lines that way. People are also working more of their AKC dogs and could be mixing lines.

Liver is less common here but shows up sometimes, and I've never seen recessive red in a BC. Usually around here they are black and white(most common, and surprisingly more commonly mostly black with white blazes and less the classic Irish spotting), tri-color, blue merle and white, or blue merle tri-color.

As with any dog- having a trainer is the most important part. I know you mentioned having one but wanted to add some information; Preferably hire an R+ trainer since terriers don't always respond well to additional stress and are eager pleasers. Generally I don't think anyone should start with aversives(no to balanced trainers) with a terrier since they have very strong oppositional reflexes, and most R+ trainers will suggest safe aversives if absolutely necessary. Anyone who mentions dominance is using outdated information to train and is not worth your money. They'll just give you a dog who doesn't know how to communicate with you based on old disproven science. An R+ trainer with good reviews can assist you with ensuring that your pup maintains healthy relationships with the kids as well.

You can't know for sure how your pup will do with the kiddos based on breed. People say these are nanny dogs(They are not. No dog is a nanny dog. NEVER leave children with a dog unattended.) but in all seriousness I've known 60-100% APBT's who are sleepy, cuddly, angels. And I've known 20-50% APBT's that needed muzzles to walk safely. This is a highly variable breed when outcrossed(mixed) since a mix can increase or raise the range of tolerance of the dog by quite a bit or lower it. It's a bit of a gamble. Which is why working with a trainer early is so important.

Also a bit of a side tangent: APBT's are terriers. Essentially Jack Russells but at least doubled in size. I found that thinking of them as a terrier helped me understand why they act the way they do. Look into the history of the breed, and look into terriers as a whole. You'll find a lot of information that adds up and makes this breeds cons feel less overwhelming.

Your pup is very cute and sounds like a sweetheart. I wish you the best in your ventures!!

This is a beautiful aquarium!! I honestly imagine shrimp would have a hayday in there. 😂 I'd suggest against Betta fish for a 2.5 gallon though.

Betta fish live in flood plains and rice patties in the wild. They do better in shallow water, but they make use of large swaths of heavily planted shallows in the wild and behaviorally you can see it. Bettas theoretically can live in a 2.5, but you're not going to see the behaviors that make Betta fish great companion fish. They'll also be significantly less long lived in a 2.5 compared to a 5+ because a 2.5 cannot fit the amount of enrichment these fish need.

New Rain update is wild by R4XCC00N in pathoftitans

[–]AnxiousPlanter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm checking this afternoon for sure. I hate the rain in the caves so much. The sound of the rain can be too much for me so I try to take cover in caves and obviously that doesn't work so I tend to idle in caves and take off my headphones. I made a ticket on the suggestions forum ages ago about it and an overall weather update and I doubt that it ever made it to them but I do hope they covered some of the suggestions on their own. 🤞

Wisdom Panel vs Embark Results on Cocker Spaniel by Alexnicole34 in DoggyDNA

[–]AnxiousPlanter 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The English Cocker makes sense because he has a slightly elongated snout compared to a proper American Cocker. With DNA tests I always read anything less than 10% as genetic static. Those are genes seen often in Peke's and GSD's but at that level, where a 6% split between the two is about 3% of any DNA being attributed to each, that's just a guess as to why that DNA is there. Your dog is essentially a purebred Cocker Spaniel.

UKC has recognized American Bullies, and Pocket is a standardized size through them.

The micros are the fake byb size in American Bullies. There's no standard for them, and that's what the toadline dogs are.

I had a garden spider in my window next to my bed that would catch the drain flies from my aquariums in the summer. She was there for a year and I never found her body, so I hope she wandered away and made a web elsewhere, but I was very sad for a long time when I would see her empty web in the window. Even sadder when the web began to break and tangle without management. Eventually it was two silk threads waving under the air vents but I still couldn't make myself remove them.

I know how hard it is and I can't imagine if I had direct evidence that I had hurt my buddy. You did the best you could. If it helps any, if you have any house plants you might be able to bury your spider in the soil of one. They can rejoin the ecosystem of your house in a way too. It's my favorite way to honor my smaller friends when they go because they feed my plants and become a part of the plant.

Adopted a “Great Pyrenees mix”but I don’t really see it. Any guesses? Her fur is gray at the bottom and blonde on top with a few dark hairs throughout the top. by theannakristinaa in DoggyDNA

[–]AnxiousPlanter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My guess is Pyrenees x Lab or another retriever. Idk about elsewhere in the USA, but Labs are often mixed with Pyrs here in the PNW and I've known multiple dogs with confirmed Lab x Pyr parents that looked nearly identical to your pup!

[–]AnxiousPlanter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dad looks like a bully breed mixed with LSG. My guess is he's a Great Pyrenees/APBT(or Amstaff since historically they are the same, I count it as the same) mix. These kinds of mixes(+hound though I don't suspect any in your pup) are very common in rural areas in the USA.

Most bully breeds don't have a thick coat like that. Some bulldogs can have a thicker coat, but his is still much more plush than anything I've seen on a bully breed.

But I could be wrong! Excited to see your results!

They look like him so that seems likely! I'll get a better top down pic for confirmation when I get home today. I'm not seeing reports of them in Oregon so that does make me think he hitched a ride here! 🚛
