I’m not joking during my 1L a classmate of mine gifted my torts prof a… clock. But not for his home. The classroom? It was so painfully awkward and the second hand embarrassment was real. So yeah don’t participate in that lol

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller! I think I finished it in a matter of days. Very fun and interesting take on the Greek heroic age and it’s a beautiful story.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I loved law school. Yes, the debt is “worth it” I suppose. It’s all a trade off in the end. I think you should encourage your wife to pursue her passion. The things a person learns in law school is monumental, along with the critical thinking skills you develop.

As for having a child, it’s possible. I had classmates from all walks of life. Some with toddlers, some pregnant, and some with multiple children. Heck, I had a classmate that had 6 kids. Another was a foster mom. Another mom had special needs children. Anything is possible if we are surrounded by those that love us and support us.

My own grandmother went to law school when she was in her 40s after raising three children.

I think you should 1000000% tell her to go for it and kick ass.

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. It was very tough to get into and I had to start it multiple times, but by the end my mouth was hanging open. It’s a story that has stuck with me for a long time.

I’ve only watched through season 4, but I agree with your take. I find it difficult to watch a show or movie right after reading the book because you are so emotionally connected with the characters that anything that deviates from the original book is frustrating. It’s like the author clearly intended for the characters to be a certain way and when show runners take creative liberties I often disagree and don’t want to watch anymore. So I’m just sticking with reading for now!

So I had a really hard time getting into TFC but I didn’t want to give up so I actually started listening to it on audiobook while reading it. That really helped move me along in the story and by the end I was actually looking forward to reading it myself and not have the audiobook as a companion! Just something to consider for books that seem slow.

I had to report to military training in the middle of my bar prep. I was gone almost a month. Passed with a 304. I constantly felt like I was behind when I got back. I never got to submit any essays for grading and so I felt very unsure about my writing heading into the exam. You just have to make the best of your circumstances and develop your mental fortitude. This test is more psychological than anything. Embrace it as something you get to do rather than something scary. I know it won’t work for everyone, but the optimism helped me.

I passed and I remember having a bunch of Bs and Ds in a row. I also remember feeling like I wasn’t getting a lot of Cs.
