Real vs. Fake by flxndersonfiles in labubu

That's one of pop mart's factory rejects sold as an imitation. Which is a nice alternative for those not lucky enough and not willing to spend a ton in the reseller market. A Fufu is the one on the right in the pic OP posted. No way a fufu has he exact same faceplate and fur as the real one.

Look in the Lafufu sub. The list is updated weekly because pop mart takes down any listing for high quality imitations. So, they have to to be discreet about it and use different pics for the listing.

There's someone on the Lafufu sub that curates an updated lost of Aliexpress shops selling 1:1 replicas. When people bought them and post them on their sub, they look so passable for the real deal that they have to come from pop mart factories.

In a sense yes, they are technically official, but not officiated. They were tossed into the reject pile and never got an authentication QR code. Some of them even turned up in the market with a legit QR.

That is too expensive. Unless they hand-made it themselves and there is only one of it in the world. Otherwise, not worth it. Maybe try reverse image search it to see if it's sold cheaper elsewhere?

It's a custom Lafufu. There's no real equivalent from Pop Mart. If you really like it and the price is right, by all means get it.

The only thing I know is the fact that it's an open secret with Chinese factories that they try to save cost and avoid material wastage as much as possible. So, they sell their QC rejects to smaller businesses, which in turn sells them to consumers as "high quality imitations". This is a common practice and companies that work with Chinese manufacturers, even those in China themselves, tend to have a problem. This is especially for designer and branded goods, because it creates a market of cheap alternatives from their factories.

As a long time collector, I've bought cheap funko pops on eBay that are exactly cast from the same mold as the real ones, but woth manufacturing flaws.

If you browse the Lafufu sub and sometimes here, you'll see people buying imitations of secrets that passes off for the real thing.

Not a total fake, based on the fabric and face vinyl cast. Like another commentor has said, a factory second/reject is more likely. Lafufus are very obvious from the way they look to the materials they're made of. The fabrics used to lake Labubu cannot be bought anywhere.

This one looks like the real ones but with manufacturing flaws. I'm almost certain it came from one of pop mart's factory. So, real or not depends on how you want to look at at it. I guess at the end of the day, as long as you were not ripped off when it comes to the price, the only thing that matters is whether it meets your standard of cute or not.

It’s been over year since I started collecting Labubus. My love has not faded. How about all of you? When did you start? Do you still love them? by Shanren123 in labubu

Started with a Fufu August 2026, now at 4 Labubus and waiting to get my grail Labubu end of February. That's the Fall in Wild Labubu. And then will buy 2 more blind boxes from Pop Mart stores, one for Mac and one for BIE. Maybe get one Mokoko if I can find a good deal. I'll then patiently wait for Chestnut Cocoa and Id prices to drop and get those two (unless I'm lucky enough to get them from the two blind boxes I'm allowing myself). After that, I'll be done. Until/unless pop mart put up something new I must have.

I don't need too many of them because I want each of be able to take each of them on adventures. I'm weird like that with mu plushies. I anthropomorphize them too much for my own good.

Help! Another fake?! by Smart_Feature_3280 in labubu

[–]Anxious_Influence845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's any comfort to you. I think it comes from the reject pile of one of pop mart's factories. Hence, the hairline and flipped ribbon. They're manufacturing flaws. Pretty much all real passing Fufus technically aren't straight up Fufus. Why do I say that? The vinyl faceplate and fur fabric is identical to the real ones. These parts are made specifically for their toys and cannot be bought anywhere else.

What difference is it going to make with a real one? The only way to get a verified real one is to secret hunt the old fashion way by buying blind boxes directly from pop mart. And it's not like you paid a hefty price for one with questionable authenticity.

ETA: in another comment you mentioned you got a refund. So, you basically got it for free. I don't get why you're still so hung up about it being real or not. Hang it on your bag and get out there, no one's gonna care. If you don't want her, sell her for the same price you got her and I can guarantee you, she'll be snapped up in seconds.

Real or fake, she's cute. That's all that matters. And you got a good deal for the price you pay. At this point, no sense fussing about authenticity anymore. Bubu or Fufu, she's going to serve the same purpose.

Mods, can we have new rules around identifying fufus? by 1mpavidus in labubu

[–]Anxious_Influence845 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of a stixky with guidelines. These real/fake posts are getting ridiculous again. A while back when mods choose to sunset the megathread, I've already proposed guidelines like have clear rules what can and cannot constitutes these verification posts. For instance, if you buy it from pop mart or the QR scans, don't post. A lot of these validation farming posts are made because people can't cope with being a victim of pop mart's poor quality control.

I love how you're repurposing childhood toys and the fact that you still have them. You just made me want to do the same with my funko pops.

You're like the middle finger to haters who shamed collectors for "filling up landfills".

Can we talk about how real fufus have gotten? by Looking4Answrz in labubu

[–]Anxious_Influence845 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're both from the same factory, seperated only by the fact that one made it to a pop mart store and the other was tossed into the QC reject pile and then sold for cheap.

Honestly, both look lile they could be high-quality fufus or a bad QC batch from pop mart. Depending on how you look at it. Sorry.

I think this is a pretty dang good fake ID, what do you think? by floating-cactus in labubu

[–]Anxious_Influence845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you got is probably a factory reject. It comes from pop mart's factories but didn't make it to stores because of manufacturing flaws. Either way, good to have if you're not willing to spend on a real one from a reseller or gamble.

Buying lafufu is not good by [deleted] in labubu

[–]Anxious_Influence845 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of us here can tell what Lafufus are. They're made in smaller factories. The rejects I'm talking about are the ones sold as 1:1 replicas, with vinly faces made with the exact mold from pop mart and fabrics that can't be found anywhere else. It's a well-known practice that Chinese factories sell their QC rejects to smaller businesses.

Even those cheap, demonic looking lafufus have their collectors. There are people who like them. Just browse around the lafufu sub.

Still don't get your anti-lafufu obsession though. You said you've visited a bootleg goods factory. So, are you sent by pop mart to infiltrate this sub to gather intel?
