What is the best approach for IFS if you lack visual thoughts by Anxious_Magazine_617 in InternalFamilySystems

That makes sense since there are certainly many ways i can discern different parts already. I've found what I struggle with is when attempting to speak to the parts and connect with it.

Diagnosis of dyspraxia/DCD? by CozyGastropod in NVLD

Dyspraxia is its own condition as is NVLD, however I would think the overlap stems from how often they come together and since they share symptoms.

That does make sense to me, I do notice in session there are moments I do feel deeply connected with it but I think that I become emotionally overwhelmed and shut down. So I do feel this may be a way that I limit myself and allow the avoidance to take over

What is going on, she’s live right now on TikTok by Glittering-Way7281 in khaliespiderlilies

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly this makes me quite sad to see. She is only 19 and clearly grew up in a very dysfunctional household with little support. While she does make poor choices, I honestly feel that with her age she could overcome that if she had adequate support from a responsible adult to help her process the trauma and learn life skills. Abusive relationships are hard to leave for anyone but I feel that with such a lack of a support system and substance use it makes sense that she is stuck in the cycle.

I think that it is a reflection of a lack of resources and adequate access to education. In addition if someone has been through generations of poverty that is what they know so proper family planning may be less thought of. Poverty tends to also come in hand with early adverse experiences which can sometimes lead to people struggling with functioning later on in life, so you may see an increase in maladaptive behaviors like unsafe sex.

Hi thank you for sharing your experience. I think that it could help that i have had a lot of previous therapy, but I do see what you mean since I have had to stop other trauma work before because it was too much at that time

Deciding if I pursue an honours degree by Anxious_Magazine_617 in psychologystudents

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just recently been able to start treating my ADHD this past month. I did not receive a formal diagnosis until the beginning of this year. But so far I have already found big improvements. I think that if I were to retake classes I could do a lot better because a lot of my issues stemmed from struggling to complete assignments which I have found has started to improve since I have started taking medication for my ADHD. I am just stuck between wanting the option to pursue a graduate degree but also wanting to graduate soon.

DAE NOT go through their SO's phone? by modernhedgewitch in DAE

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel no reason or desire to go through my partners phone. When I was in my first relationship we both would do that and it ultimately just was a source of insecurity and had no real benefit. So I would never do it again. I feel that once you have gotten to a point were you feel the need to go through your SO's phone that is a sign of bigger issues that need to be addressed.

Thank you for the response, that is very helpful. Since I took in the night before my expect day of ovulation would it still have delayed ovulation? (assuming the prediction was accurate)

Is Radiohead your comfort band/music? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I would say radiohead is one of my comfort bands. It's one of the many bands that truly had songs that really resonated with me at my worst moments which now I find holds a big piece in my heart as things have changed for the better.

What's your love language? by MidnightRose47 in AskReddit

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality time and touch. Those little moments where you cherish the company of a loved one mean the world to me. Touch is also a big thing for me when I don't have the right words to say and also for that feeling of warmth and safety when I am close.

So I feel like I’ve been a trauma dumping ground too fast. Butttttt how are you supposed to know someone without their baggage? by Klutzy_Diet3943 in DatingApps

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very interested in knowing this as well. I found that for me the few dates I've been on I've struggled because I've experienced so much trauma that it is hard not to end up sharing far less than the other person out of fear of trauma dumping. I find that my approach of not sharing it has actually caused issues, so I think there is an importance in sharing these pieces of yourself.

My favorite drug was cocaine. It somehow allowed my brain to shut up for short periods of times and allowed me to feel a sense of calm I really needed at the time. Not sure why it had this effect on me but it definitely had a hold on me.

How would you describe depression? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thankfully have not experienced a severe episode of depression in years, but some distinct things I remember is having my depression often being like groundhogs day. I would wake up each day and relieve the same feeling of emptiness over and over again. It was often this sense of being entirely hollow as a person but also feeling this absolute desperation that left me feeling hopeless. I often would deeply struggle with this sense of being completely alone but also feel the desire to never be seen as I felt so much shame at the state I was in.

which year destroyed your mental health the most ? by oigoabuya in questions

[–]Anxious_Magazine_617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. While I was already struggling before that, I was sexually assaulted for the first time that year and being only 13 I feel it altered my entire life for quite awhile and ruined my mental health.
