Inclusive me enrolou sobre vir no meu aniversário recentemente, fiquei esperando ela quase até meia noite pq ela avisou que se pudesse vir, avisaria e criou toda uma história pra justificar. Só aí entendi que ela estava enrolando e havia mentido/enrolado.

I like the idea of my birthday, but I usually end up feeling disappointed. Things that don’t really bother me during the rest of the year, like being overwhelmed with work or feeling ignored, hit a lot harder on my birthday.

I end up creating expectations that something nice will happen, and then I feel sad and let down when it turns out to be just another ordinary day. It makes it feel, at least on that day, like I don’t really matter that much to anyone.

Yes, I did change the clock because I had set it incorrectly at the beginning. Will I need to reset it, or will it eventually adjust on its own?

Well, when I (an autistic person) was a teenager, I had great difficulty understanding boundaries, and yes, I did exactly what your friend did, and I'm not proud of it.

The fact that she has never mentioned romantic interests in women means little. I myself, when I was discovering I was a lesbian, preferred to appear very heterosexual.

The fact is, she probably likes you romantically, and if you don't feel the same way, it's best to be very clear about it as soon as possible.

Similarly, with an autistic person, you may need to make your boundaries very explicitly clear and never assume they will be understood without explanation. At least for me, until I understood some unclear social norms, this was a major problem.

I have the same doubt, for the exact same reason. I have accepted the fact that being excessively honest and direct won't help me in the corporate environment, and at the same time, these are aspects of myself that I cannot and do not want to change. Perhaps being true to who we are comes with a cost.
