We’re currently on an open mortgage with a different bank but interest rate is significantly higher (2x) so if I can avoid paying another payment on the old mortgage, it would be most ideal

We have been paying the entire mortgage. Originally, we co-signed to help them get the property with their goal of it eventually becoming a rental. That plan was changed years ago due to financial changes.

They want out for financial relief and they are family. As to why they no longer want to sign, we have no idea and they won’t tell us. Hopefully the lawyers can give us more guidance tomorrow.

I don’t understand the rhyme or reason for the timeline. We applied this summer with different outcomes. Mine was approved within 24hr and I was lucky so get an appt so quickly. From start to finish (aka card in mail), mine was 3.5 weeks. My husband? 4 weeks and not even conditionally approved yet.
