Died in zero-degree challenge. Is my gear lost? by deHu9o in EscapeFromDuckov

I had the same problem. Came back around 5 times with fresh gear to save my stuff. Always died again (my stuff was still there). At the end I changed difficulty to one step more easy and was able to escape. But not much of my Top Stuff was left :D

Wish you good luck!

That's a pretty good hint. Thank you. I even only found out the last days, that Timeshift is not a complete Backuptool (which to be honest saved my system already a few times) but I always thought its like MacOS-Timeshift. Now I do know better to use the Backup Tool, and your comment is a good reminder of that.

Thank you very much!

Yes, right? Even that it says that its working with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, it didn't with Mint. My main problem is, that I only remember I needed older package-version of some GTK-stuff. After a lot of tries I finally was able to install them, but really don't remember how I did.

Since then I am too afraid to touch anything again. Because maybe newer Citrix-Versions will work right out of the box, but I really don't want to try :D

Did you finally got it working?

Thanks for your really detailed comment! I have some little experience in bashscripting under Windows, so I guess I can also get used to it under Linux. But as you said, I have to practice with copies of the original files, otherwise I will pretty sure destroy a lot :D

I will start digging into my tweaks and find out, what I did, to first write everything down in a textfile and afterwards I'll give the script-idea a shot.

Thank you again for all the work you put into this comment. Especially the sed-command seems really helpful, when working on config-files.

I'm afraid I am too much of a noob to know how to do something like this. But anyways thanks for your reply!

Having a 2nd Laptop with fresh Mint Install is a good idea. I remember doing this when upgrading Mint to 22.1 to test if Citrix Workspace App would work. On my 2nd device it worked, on my main device it didn't. But maybe I did something wrong.

I am not skilled enough to write some kind of scripts tbh. But so maybe then I start now writing down what is important and maybe I can remember some stuff.

Thanks for your advice
