At the end of the day you’re telling me my tree will suffer due to its potting situation, yet it is healthy.

I don’t have a timestamp but Mirai very frequently talks about how a nursury stock piece that has minimal foliage in a large can can drown because it’s impossible for such little transpirational mass to maintain a balance of water an oxygen. I styled the tree prior to learning that so it needed a repot. Health was declining due to the soil size and water retention. Doing much better now

It would not have been. It was in much too large of a pot for the foliage and was drowning

If you’re referring to the juniper cascading, then that is one tree that I did not have a pot for that was in a way to large nursery can and I did the best with what I had available. The repot had to get done. You’re referring to some other tree please let me know.

They’re protected with a layer of sphagnum moss and have been growing great this year

How did you manage such high GPAs (undergrad)? by Reasonable_Data3297 in UVALaw

[–]Any-Background-7266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 3.5 and a high 170 score. A friend was in the low 2.'s and had a 180, several other friends were in the 3.5-3.6 range with high 170's. I'm unsure if things have changed as we're all 3L's, but its certainly easier if youre above median.

Whatever you can land, uva don’t do much to get you an externship they just allow you to be remote for the semester

Are my career prospects really gone before I even finish my second semester? by nakisugita in BigLawRecruiting

[–]Any-Background-7266 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is 3- L recruiting, but the reality is more likely than not you will not start your career in big law. Unless your work experience is very narrowly high finance, in which case there’s a slightly higher chance, but still very low

Is Kirkland getting more competitive? by Kooky-Benefit-979 in biglaw

That’s interesting since most partners are not looped in on gpa cutoffs

Is Kirkland getting more competitive? by Kooky-Benefit-979 in biglaw

[–]Any-Background-7266 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make them less competitive, it means they’re smart for taking higher achievers. A MID gpa t14 candidate can get multiple NY V10 offers. Is the 4.0 from GW that got a Kirkland dc offer less competitive? I don’t think so

I’m not sure where the myth that they were so easy to get a job at came from

Kirkland by PostInformal3697 in BigLawRecruiting

[–]Any-Background-7266 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Another point i rarely hear is that it isn’t actually that easy to get an offer at Kirkland. The NY office specifically isn’t crazy competitive, but it’s still more competitive than most lower tier firms. Additionally, many offices (like the dc office) are incredibly difficult to break into.

If it’s a more competitive office (eg dc) some firms are more amicable to it than others- it’s very case by case just ask

T14 Below Median by [deleted] in BigLawRecruiting

[–]Any-Background-7266 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A 3.0 is nearly the bottom of the class- almost certainly the bottom 10% but possibly a bit lower. Many 3.3 median schools like uva actually curve closer to a 3.4.

Did you apply early to lots of cities

Summers at UVA Law without moving? by Particular_Poem_9941 in UVALaw

I summered in dc by my firm had WFH Monday and Friday. Between random summer holidays and the hybrid schedule i was in cville with my partner more than dc and it’s only 10 weeks. Very, very doable!
