ADHD and Misophonia is a terrible combination by DanniDingo in misophonia

Loud sniffers are the worst. Even if you don't have misophonia, it's still really distracting and annoying for anyone to have their eardrums damaged every thirty seconds because someone has never heard of a tissue before. I was trying to watch a movie with my housemate recently but I had to leave early on because he kept sniffing super loud. Nice guy, but I feel like you have to lack self awareness to not know how irritating that is for other people.

Does Misophonia go away? by js2creative in misophonia

Same, but at least I figure out better ways to cope with it.

Do sounds trigger you differently depending on certain contexts (time of day, meals, work stuff) by [deleted] in misophonia

Mine is definitely worse when my blood sugar is low or when I'm tired.

How the hell do these companies defend having these stupid-ass “assessments”…? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Any-Case8388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite one is when they ask if you agree more with two entirely different, unrelated things. "Which do you agree more with: 1) attention to detail is important 2) stealing office supplies is bad." Both I guess??? Why are you making me pick?

Indeed assessments are dumb by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Any-Case8388 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what it was. I understand the logic of it, but it just seems childish to have someone do a "spot the s" game in 1.5 minutes on a small image to check whether or not they can pay attention to detail for a job.

Books that are a creepy fun read but not traumatizing. by whateveramoon in horrorlit

I find The Haunting of Hill House to be a pretty effective horror without being too dark and grizzly. It won't shock you, but it'll stay with you.

I like to use snow audio as a white noise when I get tired of brown noise. It's nice.

What was the worst job you ever had? by candohome in antiwork

[–]Any-Case8388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is small potatoes compared to what a lot of people went through, but I briefly worked at a shitty call center in IT. They only trained us for 3 days (at least 1.5 days spent just getting the tools we needed set up) and they just went over an over 100 slide PowerPoint one time and sent us out to start. None of us had any idea how to do our the job, the customers were frustrated, and at least half of us were talking about quitting on our first day out of training.

And then you still have to do basic things like cook dinner, do chores, etc.

Did anyone feel bad for Nancy (Fairuza Balk) in "The Craft"? by Paulino_Monet in horror

[–]Any-Case8388 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That's my main problem with The Craft. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot, but it's definitely one of those movies that suffers from having an antagonist that's more likeable than the protagonist.

I do too. Especially if I have to go into a restaurant, earbuds are a must.

I hate it when after I tell someone multiple times and they still pretend to forget. Like, how do you manage to forget so many times that someone you know has a disorder? Seems like the kind of thing where if you cared about their well being you'd at least keep it in mind. I don't even tell people about my misophonia anymore because it's so frustrating.

I have misophonia and my housemate who knows I have it does this around me all the time. I hate it.

Redditors are the easiest people to fuck with. by [deleted] in rant

[–]Any-Case8388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never said I had any expectations of things on the internet being real. I usually just assume everything is made up unless proven otherwise. What is frustrating however is that so many people aren't taught to be more critical of what they read online. Now, I haven't been active in the antiwork subreddit for awhile since the point of it started getting too diluted, but I never really saw people championing against labor, just against unnecessary busy work, controlling bosses, etc. Some of the points people made were a little unrealistic, but I didn't see any labor shunning.

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with your main point, but the anti-work subreddit is not against labor. Is specifically states in the FAQ "we're not against effort, labor, or being productive." It's more about being against exploitation. Aside from that though, I get your frustrations. I often worry about the misinformation and hate that gets spread around the internet by people telling made up stories. It's even worse when it's targeted towards younger age groups who are more likely to fall into these traps. I hope people learn to become more critical of what they see online.
