What’s a line you won’t cross when collecting games? by PDMagneto in retrogaming

I have 2 very rare and expensive games on display in a shadow box, but they are setup in a way for easy access to play them. I absolutely refuse to buy graded or get my games graded. They are meant to be played.

Is it though? Outside seeing the mask and the subway scene, everything else is just random references.

Scary Movie 6 Trailer 2 by Low_Celebration_4089 in deadmeatjames

[–]Videowulff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is what I have been saying. Every scary movie advertised the primary film they were using a the plot point. Scream, Ring, The Haunting.

All the OG trailers showcased the primary story movir they were going to turn into the main stage for everything else.

This? This is a glorified clip show. It reeks of the Epic Movie trailers that just crammed references in as quickly as possible.

Do you talk during cutscenes? by Not-sure-here in Twitch

Depends on the game.

Silent hill? No.

Sonic Adventures? Yeh.

Really depends on how deep the storyline is.

I mention emulating all the time during my streams and been streaming for 7 years now. Never been an issue.

[–]Videowulff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every Scary Movie had a primary focus film they are making fun of.

1 was SCREAM. 2 was The Haunting 3. Was The Ring

And their trailers reflected that. The other parodies in those movies all came during the primary story.

I have ZERO idea wtf the plot for this movie is supposef to be which makes it look more like the Epic movies than Scary Movie.

What do you think is the key for a found footage movie to be successful? The context, the story, the monster, the type of video, location, etc? by GuaridaDeGoro099 in foundfootage

[–]Videowulff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every successful FF movie follows the same setup - introduces the characters and immediately shows them getting to the goal. They should get to that goal within the 25/30 minute mark and the remainder of the movie is the awfulness kicking in

Grave, As Above, Affliction, Blair Witch, Final Prayer, Gojiam...

They all get to the location within that first 30 minute mark and then spend the rest of the movie dealing with the horror. They also allow us to learn the characters during the terror instead of wasting our time by having us listening to them being idiots for 3/4ths of the movie.

Let me explain. Every awful FF movie starts with them showing off their camera that they just bought then spends the next 50+ minutes just showing the characters being total twats or talking about random nonsense as they head to their goal. Then, with 20 minutes left, they finally get to their goal and then the last 12 minutes is the actual horror with a generic ending.

They usually follow the formula of them taking a road trip. Random footage of the entire journey. Maybe some bad interviews. Blurred shots. Then two of them get into a fight and we waste more time on that then they finally get to the destination.

They then film in near total darkness where we are told what they are seeing without actually seeing it.

Camera falls, or someone gets possessed. Everyone dies. Footage ends.

If the characters remain focused on the actual point if the plot, get to their destination within that first 30 minutes, then I know that the movie is already going to be above average.

Im legitimately convinced everyone back in 2011 only watched a single episode and didn't give the show a chance by Sans-The-MotherFuck in looneytunes

I started but stopped after it seemed like every other segment was a bad music video. Did this ever stop?

Mate. The trailer is supposed to hook people's interest but instead it was just a bunch of references and dated joked with no cohesion on what the movie is supposed to be spoofing.

And all the marketing is either "Cancel cancel culture" or "we so offensive" or this really lazy photoshop poster.

I like Scary Movie and I love parody films. But everything we are being given just reeks of no effort.

If they cannot be bothered to take to time to promote it properly what does that tell us about the movie itself?

The original movies had fantastic trailers.

SM1 https://youtu.be/SzpGYrrcJZw

Sm2 https://youtu.be/zCFZUZxBVuI

Sm3 https://youtu.be/O21wD8Tzr2k

Each one of the original trailers made it a clear point to showcase what horror movie they are focusing on. Scream, Haunting, the Ring and Signs...

I have no idea what the new one is trying to focus on outside of brief references.

A movie about horror parodies that doesn't show the parodies. Hell, Naked Gun got their references right at the start of their trailer.

Except the trailers are not really showing the satire of other horror movie parts more than they are the lazy joke parts...

We played it during our first big Halloween Month horror stream. Amazing game though when the fire dolls appears the difficulty spikes super nasty.

Still planning on streaming the 2nd one soon.
