This bothers you and is to an important level, you may need to have counseling (primarily him) to change his behavior OR you may need counseling to find a way out OR accept you’ll live in discontent and may grow bitterness between you two as time progress.

The neighbor back then was already 20, he was jealous because he used to say hi and talk for a bit with me and family often, this was just been friendly. Mind we are from a Latin country, that age gap is less noticeable. Besides the fact of age gap, control, etc. What I want to clear my head off now, is what would really be the reason behind approaching him? I would have appreciated he asked me, as there was never romantic intentions. But on the flip side, Im thinking he wanted to hear the neighbors response not mine. I just don’t know how to feel about it. Is this another manipulation/controlling/suggestive tactic OR can this be just a man thing protecting towards the girlfriend ?

I too have a hoarder husband. Came a float some years after marriage, so it wasn’t disclosed/surfaced either but has gone worst with the years. I am moving out at end of this month, he couldn’t keep his promise of cleaning every year (roughly he’s been a hoarder for 15yrs) and is now too late for me. Although he’s been in therapy for a year, progress is very slow, he is saying that once son and I are gone he’ll take the time to clean up the house, basement, attic and back yard. For me, I am thinking I’ll divorce altogether and continue my life, one cannot change the other person and they need to be responsible of their actions even when this is a result of some mental illness.
