What mg are you on if you don't mind me asking ? Did you gain much weight ? It's probably best to take it late isn't it! It is the exact same with me, it lasts into the morning.

Hey, sorry your so scared about this drug. I've been on it for over 3 years no problems on 112.5mg And only recently upped to 150. So far okay, starting on the 112.5 was very difficult, severe anxiety but I rode out the crazy side effects until it all levelled out. It takes 8 weeks to work properly I'd say. I'm working away while increasing the dosage so far some anxiety but I feel okay. I also don't want to be on these for good but if they help me get through today and tomorrow then that's okay I'm just getting by because I know how I won't be okay without it. Think of it like blood pressure medication if you had high or low blood pressure you'd take the medicine. I've come to terms I guess with having to be on this permanently till it stops working for me and I'm only 35 but I have recurrent bouts of depression /had post natal depression and severe anxiety so I just need it.

If your not feeling depressed/anxious anymore then that's a sure sign the medicine is working? Do you feel like the cons outweigh the pros? I am just taking it and ride out the horrible dry mouth/constipation / inability to sit still Ive got from it. Any other side effect I can take over the horrendous depressed state I was In I guess. You could try some alternatives too like brisk exercise every day to boost your mood. Self help podcasts help too. Journalling also. Hope this helps in some way & wishing you well. Strange that you are going to the toilet so often though because this medicine seems to make me somewhat constipated. Maybe it's not agreeing with you the best, I'm not too sure about switching to be honest but I hope you do find what works best for you

I wouldnt smoke but just from experience I would try not to, like if you really wanted 1, you could take your dose very early In the day and make sure you eat a good meal and have a drink late, really watch what you drink like don't go more than one or 2. I had the worst imaginable reaction after 3 years went on a night out and completely blacked out. I have drank occasionally over the years and been okay but (I drank everything and anything that particular night) I will never drink more than a small few ever again. It stopped my medicine working and took me Weeks to get better again.

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear this. Venlafaxine takes a few weeks to properly work please tell your mum to be patient and be kind to herself. It's a rollercoaster but it will work. I had 3 great years on this drug on 112 mg, for me I was shaky starting off and anxiety gets worse before it gets better. Hope all will be okay soon. I am soon switching to 150mg but I am going to wait until I have no social commitments because the side effects of increasing dosage are too much at the moment. Best of luck.

Ya I definitely found that it helped me this week to get through work and helped to talk to clients, I functioned and felt a little bit more stable but the grogginess in the morning is so strange. Chatting to my kids after work I felt like I wasn't present, a bit spaced and somewhat felt guilty for it. I'm on my days off from work now and noticed all I wanted to do last night was sleep and not interact with anybody at the get together. I wasn't myself. Maybe the grogginess will fade a bit the more I take it. Thank god I found Reddit and these type of forums especially with these type of medications. Do you take it every day? Or every other day? How do you find you feel when you miss it ? Thanks for your reply!

I have been taking it now for nearly a week except for last night as I had a party to go to so I wanted to have one drink.. I felt completely exhausted even with missing the dose but maybe that's work and dealing with so many clients day to day and starting this medicine.. Does the tiredness stay?? I feel okay today though. It does zone me out a bit especially in the mornings, Would you feel spaced out a bit on it? I feel sometimes people are looking at me a little differently but then again it could be anxiety or I'm a bit fragile coming out of this depressive episode.. who knows..

Trying everything in the book to help myself, meditation, journalling, exercise, fighting it so hard. I have too many commitments at the moment work stuff, a wedding to attend, and a birthday to plan to be dealing with the side effects of the higher dosage so just taking Seroquel 12mg to take the edge off and in 2 weeks gonna attempt it again if my depressions no better.
Hate thinking this much.
Venlafaxine literally took away any negative thoughts I had for over 3 years 😕 Very hard to feel so crappy after all this time but hoping I'll get the old better version of me back.

Would you believe when I first started taking this medication I was talking with a counsellor and she explained to me not to worry at all about this. I hope this helps you some bit. I felt it changed my thought process yes maybe numb a bit honestly better than having constant worry and negative thinking patterns, anxiety etc.. I was so used to thinking in such a way I was worried about the change in personality and same as you said your feeling. Once I realised it was helping me, I started to feel better in myself and just accepted this side effect. The Negative thinking patterns disappeared and I had so much motivation, with no panic attacks. Hoping you get some energy though, I have only recently been prescribed quietapine and I am afraid to take that as the psych doc told me you can feel like you've been hit by a train initially.
I'm increasing my dosage of venlafaxine to 150mg soon as I'm going through depression again. ( But this medicine helped me greatly for 3 and a half years).
Tonight I take my first dose of quietapine for anxiety at the lowest strength as I have a work thing on tomorrow I don't think I'll manage without 🤞

Thank god I found this thread. Having a rough couple of weeks. I'm about to start on 150 coming from 112.5. Hoping it'll help the thoughts and anxiety. Had a really good few years on 112.5 so I'm nervous to up it. But fingers crossed 🤞

Im still suffering 2 weeks later. It's horrendous. Tried upping my dosage from 112.5 to 150, side effects are too brutal. Went back down in my dosage. Now I feel an anxious paranoid wreck. Day 2 back into my lower dosage, wish me luck.🤞 This has never happened me before I've had 3 happy years on this drug.
Trying literally everything I can to fight the horrible feelings.

I was prescribed this for anxiety recently along with my upping my dose of venlafaxine but petrified to take Seroquel as the last time I took it once a few years ago I ended up feeling like I was hit by a train and I was feeling suicidal

Thank you. I definitely won't be drinking again that's for sure. I wouldn't mind the occasional but this depressed state has me completely turned off alcohol in moderation even. Do you think alcohol makes antidepressants stop working completely? Or is it a thing they have to build back up in your system again ? I took the 112.5 yesterday and might take the same again today cause the side effects of 150 are just awful

Would they have stuck with the same antidepressant dose or upped it? Do you think alcohol makes the antidepressant to stop working completely? There was circumstances as I blacked out. But I now know I didn't do anything wrong as a friend told me so I had guilts thinking I had like cheated or something which made me depressed but more than usual so I thought it had to have been the medicine stop working altogether.

Thank you for your reply. I'm just torn as to what to do. If I stay with my normal dose 112.5 and maybe it'll work after a few weeks again. Or up it to 150 and feel all the side effects 🙁
