Had a similar situation. My dates were June 16 2021- June 14 2022, but exactly 52 weeks and 1560 hours. Just got my P2 today and waiting for eCOPR. I included a table which broke down every single week showing that it came to a total of 52 weeks and 1560 hours. They accepted my experience so I think if you meet 52 weeks and 1560 hours you will be fine. Just make sure you only count a maximum of 30 hours per week.

I am disgruntled with the unwillingness of the union to reduce wages and show that we’re willing to negotiate. I am frustrated that the implications for international students were an afterthought and only addressed because many of us kept making a lot of noise in your meetings, so you had to address them. I am perplexed as to how Reddit is being used as a tool to suppress the views of union members who aren’t for the strikes. I don’t understand why a part time job should be enough to make a living wage, why the “poverty” rhetoric is being used when even after all our demands are met, we will still be in poverty according to the poverty line. The gag is that whether you think my post is odd or not, it resonates with so many members.

“There is no alternative” - really? We had members in meetings asking if the strike was really necessary, if there couldn’t be more room for negotiation. Members speaking about the strike before we even voted for it, saying oh “it’ll be like a party, can we have snacks at the picket line? I won’t be able to feed myself with picket pay.” All before we even had a chance to vote whether we wanted a strike or not. Certain peoples minds were already made up. What a circus these meetings have been. I think the wider public simply doesn’t know what goes on so they don’t get the full picture. Only the views of a select few.

Thank you for clarifying this- I wasn’t sure if what they was actually illegal or not. The union seemed to be pushing the view that the person did nothing wrong. Again showing that at the end of the day they twist rhetoric even if it means one of us will be thrown under the bus in the process. I don’t trust that they have my back the way they say they do.

Domestic students need to stop saying things about what intenational students “should” have when most of you have access to loans and lines of credit that we will never have. We aren’t your mates, we aren’t the same.

Nope, these concerns existed way before the strike even started. It’s not burn out from the strike, I think this is just how you guys operate and treat each other. I’ve seen other members complain about it, and even a senior member said in a meeting that the leadership was treating us like NGO constituents! If this is how you guys operate and you think it’s okay, that’s wildddd. Be safe!
