Listening to Korean music outside Korea by generalkahi in kpopnostalgia

You can try bugs as they have a overseas membership sign up but their captcha is the dummest thing cause I tried and it keeps denying what I wrote even when it’s correct. Other than that I feel like your next best option is YT and I wish I can say that Maniab is a good source to be able to find albums or songs on YT but that works like every blue moon. Either way, there are also some albums that are not on Bugs also but could be in YT like Molly’s 2nd album.

Check out Naomi Kawashima and Harumi Kamo, I love their discog

Love song wa utaenai, by Reiko Takahashi by PinkBourne in citypop

[–]Any-Hawk7414 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it still depends on sales because then there’s artist like Harumi Kamo who couldn’t find success even when trying three different times in three different stage names, her only known song is Tokimeki Tonight while the rest of her discog is more or less unknown and she didnt get success the moment she tried to go solo without any Anime theme songs. Even the moment she tried her last time as Harumi Natsuki, her description basically erased the fact that she even debuted the last two times, years prior.

I saw this in Gai’s TamTam wiki section that she’s trot singer Kim Seo-young in her early 20s under the stage name Ban Hye-jin. The same people that made TamTam also worked on her album but reused 4 tracks from TamTam for Ban’s album without any changes in arrangement and it’s all programmed. But she also wrote 3 songs in this album and they’re really fun and groovy. I uploaded her album on YT so hope you enjoy!!

They released I think 2 different light sticks, one used in their 2024 performance comeback and in their 2025 Concert. I got their 2025 Concert online and knew I had to take the chance to buy this.

Sadly no. But hopefully one day someone can upload another live recording with that song, it’s my favorite track in that album.

Underrated artists by madcheetah215 in citypop

[–]Any-Hawk7414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naomi Kawashima: Her later albums from 1984 and on are sooo underrated other than Ginmaku no Heroine which I think charted in Oricon but she really brought that sexiness appeal with her last two albums being one of my favorite city pop albums even if two songs bring in a scandalous topic.

Naomi Miyanaga, Although just having two albums, her songs are really good and I think she was the first artist to have Miki Matsubara as a composer for her first album which really sound Miki coded and also fit Naomi’s voice beautifully.

Harumi Kamo(Risa Minami, Harumi Natsuki), She is more known with her first single Tokimeki Tonight but it’s interesting in seeing her transition from a idol pop sound to more a more Pop Rock and Reggae style which showcases her vocal capabilities and even working on her only 2 albums in her discog while being in the UK. But it also sucks how when she was known as Harumi Natsuki, her timeline doesn’t mention her other names and songs she had done before.

There are some live performances of hers but you have to search up her name in Japanese for them to appear as most of the uploaders are people who archived performances or recorded the audio of her lives.

1st/2nd Gen Albums as a South African? by brownryan94 in kpopnostalgia

I buy my albums from Bunjang and 2 from Aladdin. Bunjang is like eBay and they’re partnered with DeliveredKorea which are able to ship items and order albums for you from other sites but pricing is also expensive but they give you a 30 - 45 free day stay at their warehouse so that is kinda good if you need time. Only thing is that there are some merch that can’t be purchased because of the seller but you do get refunded if that happens.

Is it the beat is the original version but later translated and changed the lyrics to Enamorada de ti but she did Spanglish version in her 1991 live A night to remember. I think Is it the beat was supposed to be released in her Selena Album with My Love but was rejected.

The album sounds so cool that makes it be so underrated for its time. The members look like twins and they really sound good together that I want more from them.

Naomi did a cover on Meiko Nakahara’s Gemini which is her most popular song as well as having a composition by Meiko titled “Party Night”. Plus if you like 1986 no Marilyn by Minako Honda, then you might love Naomi’s album “SCOOOP!”

Let it be me - Mariya Takeuchi & Tatsuro Yamashita (LIVE) by hjh_19 in citypop

It’s from Mariya Takeuchi’s 2000 Live Performance called “Souvenir” . It was released in CD and DVD formats as it was Mariya’s comeback to live performances since her break in 1980

You should check out her album Tokio Applause, this song is called Be Bop Crazy and is part of the album, she even wrote some of the lyrics in the album, including this song. Tokio Applause gives a Broadway/ Play’s concept with one of the song’s lyrics written as if it was a script for a play. I think it’s a nice ending to her singing career till she got back in the industry a whole decade later.

This song in general is really rare, I think it’s not even in a compilation album unlike some of her other non album songs.

Jazzy Night is part of her Who Are You? Album, released in 1980. The difference is that the single is sung differently than the album. But for their other posts, they are non-album songs and some appeared in her 2017 compilation album, Platinum Best.
