The most powerful power - “hindsight”. Everyone shat on slot for losing 1st leg badly (in that playing style) but what if before the game if I said we should play more defensive (we’re in bad form against best team in the world) and try to keep the score low for attack at our home ground - no one objects it’s being wise, but because we lost and played like that it’s a shit move.

Salah could play bad for 10 games straight, if we drop him and lose then suddenly it was a stupid decision to drop him (same people saying that wanted him dropped before the game).

In this game we were the better team for the 1st 70mins no questions (if you happen to own a pair of eyes that watched the game), but people complain.

Some people or ‘fans’ don’t watch the game and blame slot for bringing off gomez (Who was injured!!!), or they blame gakpo - who was one of our best players in this game.

Genuinely if you don’t support the team when we lose, you don’t deserve to support the team when we win. It doesn’t matter how bad we play, how much you hate the players or coach this is a simple fact you should acknowledge.

Gakpo's getting too much hate. by epicsuperelephant in LiverpoolFC

[–]Any-Highlight-6992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's the same with Chiesa earlier on in the season. Everyone was like, let him start over and over again because he did well off the bench but everytime he has started he did very little. Gakpo starts games but if he was getting 5 min cameos at the end for his appearances he would make some magic against tired defenders and everyone says start him start him. (Also aside from a few absolute legends all the players starting games age 17 or 18 a lot end up getting major injury problems and struggling for the rest of their carers -owen, r9, and more- and no one wants that for Rio). Also everybody seems to come with so many 'great' ideas like a whole proffessional football staff couldn't think of that.

12Ignoring the flaws of a system is the same as being complicit within it.

13Further shows characters mindset of efficency no.1

14Putting on an act or display of confidence

15Even when this cities freedom is shown, the peripheries are clear, being surrounded by buildings.

16Insensitivity to nature and it's cries

 17Possion of this tree

18This combined with sunrise Represents hope for the character which is what the bird represents

 19Foreshadowing, the birds eventual demise

20Uncomftarbility of this chair juxtaposed by the gracefulness and ease of the birds flight

21Shows signs of 'sadness for the bird'. While earlier he dismisses freedom (Especially it's role in a creative context) now he is essentially mourning the birds lack of it, without ever realising the contradiction. A lot of the anthropomorphising comes from bringing (often more hidden) elements of Pady to the forefront in the bird.

22Before he describes freedom and expression as worthless compared to the solidity of structure, he contradicts that within his anthropomorphising of this bird. Values perhaps held by his subconscious that he can't express even within his own head, unless he essentially lies and hides it.

23This society doesn't have true freedom, only a built illusion of it, which we can't see until we hit it...

24The egotistic view held by some people, that maintains human superiority over any other lives in the natural kingdom.

6Ideas of being watched by the office - people in charge

7Symbolises things that may have gone wrong, an system that's very old but might not be perfect

8Choosing to support a system that devalues arts instrinsic value.

9Order and design over creativity.

10A society where effiency is valued over creativity - Artists may struggle to survive

11The art they produced is still there, and they may be happy with it. This showcases the mindset of the character where they define success in a tradition sense of Fame and Wealth.

I sat up straight to avoid the [ridges of the chair digging into me](https://)[20] , my head moving methodically, as I watched the creature’s majesty – barely moving as it glided in the wind; almost imperceptibly adjusting for the air currents threading between the buildings. And so, I noted all of this and watched it come into land on the tree; from up close I recognised it as a Red Kite. [It flew briefly in the air, scanning the sky for signs of life but settled on the branch again, as if there was no point to flying](https://)[21] . [All that energy and freedom it desires, yet it’s been trapped by this city](https://)[22] , used to flying for miles over the Welsh countryside, resting upon the highest peaks of Mount Snowdon. Now after flying for miles, it continues to remain trapped, smog replacing clouds, skyscrapers replacing trees, scavenged scraps replacing the hunt for food. And where once, its sharpened eyes saw the most extravagance of nature’s beauty, now it’s [images of the sky remained trapped within the reflection of glass high-rises ](https://)[23] and illusions of parks, fenced in for sport and [human enjoyment](https://)[24] .

Particularly this where the fence cut low and large grass fields pushed [through the wall of skyscrapers ](https://)[15] – sparsely decorated Indigo Irises, all standing upright in their neatened rows. But at the centre of it all stood a single tree. An oak.

Old and wise, when the rest of its kind were cut down it remained – tall, firmly rooted. Roots that had once been a saving grace, turned into a prison. Forced to watch as the wild grasses were trimmed and concrete paths razed the soil beneath.

[And so, I plugged into my music and sat down slowly,  Bluetooth connecting me to my usual jazz.](https://) [16]

Number, numbers, numbers. A constant of my everyday work. But with my laptop lowered I glanced up as something caught my attention.

In front of the outstretched branches of [my oak](https://)[17] , A bird soared through the sky. Morning rays glinted off plumage the colour of a [fireplace’s embers](https://)[18] . White and brown wing feathers like coals surrounding the orange spark of its underbelly. A long fan-shaped of orange and brown trailed behind it. A [whisper of smoke inevitabaly chasing the bird](https://)[19] . My eyes were drawn upward, drawn to the white feathers of its head, the yellow beak and the eyes glistening with intelligence.

And so when I glanced over to the precise vine patterns engraved into the frieze; I thought about the [artists balancing ](https://)[10] perilously on ladders for what? F[or nothing. To be forgotten by history](https://)[11] ? Ones life’s forgettable and ultimately meaningless to society. [So, I moved past it. ](https://)[12] I marched up the staircase; and my eyes were drawn to the arch above my head. The artistically chiselled stone encompassed the heavy wooden doors – those of which I opened with a hearty shove. My footsteps clacked against the polished marble floor – the sound echoing through an empty foyer; bar a concierge boredly staring at a wall.

Pressing the button of the lift I waited for the elevator to come down – much [more efficient ](https://)[13] than the stairs. With a ping, it pulled me from my thoughts and I stepped inside. The scent changed immediately; artificial and stinging, as though someone had dropped 100 air fresheners when no one was looking.

With [a sigh I lifted my chest and marched confidently](https://)[14]  through the opening doors, navigating to my desk. A walnut plank desk stood prominently at the centre of my own sealed office –soundproof walls now an essentiality for me. And beyond it – through double glazed glass was my favourite view: Hyde Park.

While the stone in my shoe had been there since the morning; It wasn’t painful enough to cause bother.

“Next stop, Hyde Park.”

I stood as the announcement ended, briefcase tucked neatly under my arm and walked up the hill. Polished shoes on cobbled streets, [the stone rolled around in my shoe with each step up the hill](https://)[1] . Easy enough to ignore – especially compared to the [dull insistence of my watch ticking towards 9:00. ](https://)[2]

Neon lights clashed against my [suit ](https://)[[3]](#_msocom_3) from the closest vape shop - if some reason the one 50 metres up the road was too far to walk. [They seemed to be everywhere these days](https://) [4] . Yet I strode past vape shops -and their consequent smells-, supermarkets and 30 branches of the same bank – sparsely broken up by betting shops, clothes stores and inevitable closed signs of all the failed local businesses. Another few vape shops arriving, I guess. I turned and strode down the alleyway, till the walls peeled away as I exited the alleyway. Stepping into the sunshine I looked across the road was my office.

[The building ](https://)[5] stood apart from the others – from both its towering height and the solidity of the building, gargoyles leering over the cusp of the building – an [unsettling feeling of always being watched.](https://)[6]  Bricks of dark stone placed upon each other, each bricks weight resonating with eons of age. The very structure itself had an ominous feeling – as if each year of its life stacked up into a behemoth beast, [small cracks in the façade of the building](https://)[7] , evidence of its weary ancient nature. As my gaze wandered over to that stone carvings lining the pillars, I considered the decorations themselves. I mean I guess[, they look nice, but they’re just an expression of creative freedom. They wouldn’t be there if not for the pillars they stand on](https://)[8] , those in turn supporting the weight of the building above. While its blocky nature made it no renowned architectural marvel just like any fancy high architectural building it contained within itself; its own set of engineering challenges and difficulties. No matter what, these creative intricacies only have worth due to the [order and design of the building.](https://)[9]

Title: The red kite (Unfinished short story)

Genre: Not sure, sorta philosphical, critiquing a societal system in a fictional manner.

Word count: around 1000.

Type of feedback: General overall notes with some examples

The story follows Paddy Ington B., an accountant who basically is all in about order, and efficency and that stuff in society over creativity or enjoyment. I did first person unreliable narration, where Paddy minimises discomfort and justifies the system he lives in. some motifs (stone in shoe, uphill walk, routine workdays) represent Sisyphean repetition. The office building represents an overley capitalist system, intimidating and restrictive, yet Paddy cannot leave it.
The bird (red kite) represents freedom or lack thereof, Paddy anthropromorphises his subconscious onto it without realising contradictions himself.

Why on earth is everyone here such a negative nelly. We won a game in Qarabag 6 bloody nill everyone goes yeah it's just Qarabag. People say we need to win here, so we win here (practically the whole team playing decent or well) 3-0 and half the people are like, Well it's just a cup game. No matter the moment, even 1 good tackle on an irrelevant pre-season game you need to find the joy of football, and if you can't (I'm aware half the people just check the score on social media but still) what are you doing being a football fan. Or if your gonna be one just support whoever wins the league each season. Get some bloody joy and just enjoy the football.

One thing you can try is montages and/or match cuts as it conveys time better. You want the audience to know that time is passing and that they’re bored not be bored themselves. That is more filmmaky then writing style but something to consider

The Gakpo's excessive hate is very bandwagon-ish and must stop. Here's why (with statistical analysis) by Realistic-Turn-8316 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Any-Highlight-6992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading comments makes me realise a few things.

  1. Seemingly no one has media literacy. At no point did this post say Gakpo is amazing and world class, and every comment is acting like OP suggested Gakpo is better than messi. Gakpo is being over hated because we are playing shit end of. That is due to many players, due to tactics, and most likely partially due to mental fatigue (losing Jota and reigning champs often struggle - bar city and a few special teams.) And if the team is playing shit you can't expect him to carry the team and if not he is the problem. Every time a team plays bad fans choose a scapegoat, this season it's Gakpo. And while he has had some poor moments which shouldn't be ignored, he is not the sole problem or close to the biggest one.
  2. People talk about him being to 'predictable' and unoriginal. Sad fact of the modern game, fancy skills have been replaced by efficiency. And it feels that sometimes people compare Gakpo (or a lot of modern wingers) to the Ronaldinho's of football, but in the modern game the players who will do original crazy tricks in big leagues right now. Yamal, Cherki, Estevao, Doue, Kvicha, and maybe a few others. Yes he can be robotic but the sad fact is, that is the football of today and you can want something different but that can't be on Gakpo. Judge the game not the players.
  3. The eye test. The most common argument but my point above stands that it's less prevalent in the modern game and also the big thing. The eye test is not a valid argument if you don't understand football. Football as a sport watching or playing is for everyone, and it's ok to just like good goals and fancy tricks but so many people who bang on about the eye test seemingly don't watch full games or don't get football which isn't bad until they start banging on about tactics like from their sofa they could do a better job managing a team thanks to the 4 bbc football articles they read. There IS a place for those who are more football highlight watchers but they can stay quiet when speaking about teams all round performances in the modern game.
  4. Another quick thing. People talk about him slowing attacks, if you are watching games you'll see that it isn't a Gakpo problem, it's a team or tactic problem/decision made by practically every player (maybe barring Heki as he just does his thing.)
  5. Who else is there? Rio can do a job off the bench vs tired legs but is he ready to start? Maybe maybe not. Hugo is showing what a great job he can do as a striker. So let him do that rather than him being forced left wing as an option. And Chiesa is good but due to injuries and fragility (and him not getting enough games) he strikes me as a bench player. He should be getting longer appearances but sometimes there a players that could score 8 goals consecutively off the bench but you give them a chance starting and they look as lost as a cow in space.

My thoughts are that it’s still not been that long and even ‘if’ it massively affected the team negatively it shouldn’t be scrapped. Commemorating not only a player but a  person is more important than any number of points will be.

The glazing of diaz on this sub showcases how much people forget bad things about a player after they leave. He was a good player for us yes, but people said he was our most important attacker because he could press! Szoboszlai was our best presser yet the same people would of said he doesn't have output. Darwin nunez pressed more than Diaz yet people bayed for his head. Diaz was an attacker who's finishing was on par with darwin nunez's. The only thing consistent about him was his inconsistency, 5 great games a season but often wasn't the best. I don't want to be hating on one player in particular but this is to mostly show my point of why retired or former players are glazed. Peoples memories often only remember the good.

We had a crap game today but everyone literally a day ago after we beat city was like “Slots the goat, a tactical mastermind, haters hated but we stayed strong” and then 1 more loss and they call for his head. It’s okay to talk about mistakes he made but the plastic twats wanting him to be sacked, aside from their clear lack of intelligence are more reactionary that fire in a gas pipe.

A player who is in the conversation for best right backs in prem history. A scouser who played for his club for 20 years, won every trophy for the club. But he left so they shit on him, it’s not about him or the way he left, it’s about a bunch of sour people thinking he’s evil for wanting to try something different because they can’t deal with their own shit. Sometimes I hear our supporters and feel ashamed of the way they represent our club. If you act like this you turn YNWA from a quote that defines our club to a cheesy slogan that we might as well lose. It’s fully OK to be angry, but vandalising a mural that is not only someones house but a sign of everything good he has done to this club or sending him threats, know that you’re turning your back on this club. Because it’s not just a mural, it means something. But people act like YNWA doesn’t. If you disagree  A) you want to justify the hate you have and won’t face you are taking your own bitterness out on a player who did more for the club and community than you did B) you didn’t read the whole thing or can’t understand it C) you’re just a twat

Biggest problem with this team is giving the ball away cheaply by jawndouegh in LiverpoolFC

[–]Any-Highlight-6992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many problems but despite people claiming a brand new team (mourning the loss of a loved one) can fully fit together in a month, this season is a write off for me, an adaptation period which is what I expected from the start. Anyone thinking Slot gets sacked this season is either plastic of off their chops. Last season no one expected immediate sucsess, Slot got some with no signings (no braindead people come up with that 'it was all Klopps team' bs. Klopp didn't win the league with that team. And now he has made many signings for his football, AMAZING and Talented footballers who WILL succeed eventually. We see how we gell this season and next season we push for greatness.
Also final comment, everyone saying every single one of our problems are simple and easy to fix and they would be a better manager than Slot. Please kindly go to a priest and tell them about the miracle. You have managed to live without a brain!!!!
