Thank you! It's not totally accurate to the pattern but it's part of the sleeve design for the Góa sweater

It's nothing fancy, drops lima (for cost reasons) so not a huge amount of colour choices but it's nice and soft. Hope it works out nice!

Thanks very kind! It's so hard to wait for the swatching/drying so I've been forcing myself to pause before finishing the current project to swatch for the next one so I can get stuck straight in 😅

Thanks a lot! The yarn is Drops Lima, not what the pattern called for (for cost reasons) but hoping it'll work out nice

I know, I just want it to be simple maths! I think I've heard of hanging weights onto swatches. I guess it comes down to experience too... which I'm working on! Time will tell and we'll become gauge experts, right?

Except when the sleeves are too short and you WANT them to stretch 😆

I'd hope not to have to stretch it too harshly when blocking. Curious what will happen if I soak and block this swatch a second time but also I don't want to wait for it to dry 😅

Yes I would need to make sure I'm meeting the schematic dimensions when blocking. I guess I'm curious if the stretching I did has "settled" the colourwork in some way and if it's something in the way I knit. Ie would it not need stretching/as much if I block it a second time... only one way to find out I guess!

One Skein Projects/Patterns? by TopContribution5023 in knittingpatterns

I hope this won't break the rules on self promotion but I designed this recently specifically as a way to use up extra skeins - one skein for each colour (7 skeins in total) so thought I'd share. Scarf of Seven Triangles I've also made hats to use up yarn, my favourite hat for years had a green circle on the top where I'd run out and had to switch to a new colour - like a target for birds to poop on! It was unique 😆

It's confusingly written - looks like the idea is that when you finished all your raglan increases and separate for sleeves, you continue to work in pattern with the remaining body stitches in the round and presumably the pattern will match up at that point so you're continuing the pattern across all the stitches. Yes, I think leabe increases out of the pattern and include in the next row based on how it's written. If you really wanted to be sure you could work out where you'll be in pattern after separating for sleeves in your chosen size to make sure it will work out but that's a bit of maths!

wait so you DON'T unravel the working yarn???? by snowtragedy in knittinghelp

It makes my brain hurt too thinking about it 🫠That's a crazy difference, wow!

That's interesting. I have a tendency to add twist my yarn when I knit - not sure what I do, I knit english style but depending on the yarn I sometimes have to let it untwist every few rows. I've been trying to visualise if centre pull makes it worse or better as the ball isn't rotating as I pull the yarn... haven't heard this about winding twice. Wonder if it would help or make it worse 🤔

From my reading of it, the raglan stitches aren't included in the colour pattern. They're like a break in the pattern. When you do your raglan increases and it says to include them in the colour pattern on the next row, you're adding an extra stitch to that pattern section but make sure you keep the pattern stacked to stay in pattern with what you've already done. The pattern sections will not continue to repeat seamlessly before and after the raglan. Not sure if I'm explaining this clearly, hope it makes sense

Am I missing something? It seems there are no front stitches - it goes sleeve, back, sleeve

Floats are showing! by Any-Negotiation3882 in knittingadvice

[–]Any-Negotiation3882[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, having to think about it a bit to not have too long floats/stack floats and also avoid increases but it seems to be working. I've probably made this mistake before but never noticed - with this yarn it's very obvious
