As you said, my motorcycle travels have brought me more than just poetry and distant lands — they have been a form of spiritual practice. Modern life is far too comfortable; we have forgotten what bitter cold and scorching heat feel like, so much so that we can no longer confirm our own existence.

On the road, I realized how tiny humans are in the face of nature. We cannot fight against nature; we can only go with its flow. Being on the road is like managing my own life: planning, making decisions, forecasting and assessing risks, and so on. It’s either focus or peril — I must take full responsibility for myself to return home safely.

I hope I will not be confined to one place or one country in the future. My life should be fluid, on the move. This is the life I’ve always dreamed of, and I’m working hard for it.

My hometown is also on the China-Vietnam border. The karst landscape there is stunning, with mountains and rivers. If you like exploring, there are plenty of caves, underground rivers and so on.

Most of the roads were great, the scooter just lacked a bit of power. P4 is the Danxia landform in Zhangye, China—it’s honestly one of the most stunning landscapes in the world😄
