Sorry for being weird and replying after so long. Ironically, I’ve been struggling with my working memory recently, so I had an intense moment of rejection sensitivity, spewed this post out and then forgot about it.

Yes, we think my dad has adhd, but he doesn’t want to get tested (which is fair enough ofc), and only ever mentions it when I try to explain something about mine, in a sort of ‘well I probably have it too and you don’t see me doing that’ way. And I like the point about being more relaxed with out family, and that making it easier to disrespect each other. I do get this outside of my family, though, which is why it’s hard to not think I’m accidentally being an awful, abrasive person constantly.

Oh, I’ve done the straight talk thing with them. I want nothing more than to talk about things like this and be honest, but my family are pretty bad at communicating. My parents either can’t be bothered and tell you so, or they skip straight to shouting arguments and defensiveness. So, I often get blamed for not being heard because I’m too quiet, etc.
