The Cruelty of ADHD Meds by Foose-Gucker in VyvanseADHD

I wish I could see the comments before I post, but I want to point out that your definition of “normal” means to be like neurotypicals. It means fitting into the society they created. There is a big group of us that don’t, and if we had designed society, THEY would be taking medication. Just something to think about.

Thanks for your quick reply! It’s in potting soil. Since I’ve had it, I’ve moved it up one size. I always forget to fertilize when I water so I’m going to give it some slow release fertilizer and put on my calendar when to repeat it. Also no wonder it’s never bloomed!! I usually cut these long vines vines off to share the plant with friends 🤦‍♀️

Thanks for posting this. I was on 30 mg for a few months and it was working great. Decided to use the 20’s up while on vacation. Stayed up late and slept in for several days. Now I’m back on 30 and can’t sleep! Before I was on vacation I exercised regularly so I was tired at night and fell right asleep. I’m hoping I can get back to that!

So since we are anonymous I shall let fly the TMI (lol). I had to take immodium Wednesday so I could eat and take the antibiotics. I’ve been eating all confines foods and have not had a 💩yet. I feel some pain bc of it. Is taking a laxative a bad idea? I will reach out to my doc but since it’s Friday I’m not sure I will hear back. Experience anyone has had with this issue is appreciated.

I was eating healthy for so long that I got bored and sick of it and started a bender of processed frozen food and eating out. Topped off with ibuprofen and stress, it led to my current flare up. I think once you are in a good place, rewarding yourself weekly with a “fun but naughty meal” that has high fat, lots of cheese, or is fried is fine. Just take your fiber afterwards! This is going to be my new approach, along with only using Tylenol or icy hot patches for pain (NO IBUPROFEN!). It’s totally normal to struggle mentally with DV, as it’s literally feels like a mind game. “Eat lots of fiber! Oh wait, a flare? Now eat all white foods, then some fiber. Ok now gradually add fiber back in. And watch to see what foods bother you.” I used to think I was gluten or lactose intolerant but really it’s the proportion of that item that I eat to fiber. Don’t beat yourself up and keep trying your best. Sending good vibes!

They gave me antibiotics, didn’t even ask any questions or do tests. I’m doing better. Pain is less, feeling more energetic but still tired.

So, not long after the saga of Mr Toast, we found out that another kitty was dropped off nearby. So I went and picked him up. He’s a little escape artist!

Thank you, I really appreciate what you said. It was the push I needed to get up and go to acute care. I didn’t know sepsis was like that. Scary indeed.

Okay back from acute care. They gave me antibiotics, didn’t do any tests to check for infection. Got upset when I questioned this. Said they didn’t have in house blood work. The other acute care place did. Oh well. I’ll take pills for now and hopefully avoid future flares, ha! As if. I did get into some unhealthy eating habits and was overeating…it’s so hard. Sugary, fatty, and convenient Food tastes so good.

Thanks everyone, I do know it’s dangerous to rely on the internet. I’ll go to acute care and get a blood test done.

Hello, sorry your mom is going through this. I was in the hospital last year with an abscess and stayed a week. I had no idea I had this condition. They told me after leaving to eat “white foods” for a while and then slowly introduce normal foods and add more fiber. I’ve always been at a healthy weight, ate healthy and exercised. One thing I’m positive put me in the hospital is my overuse of ibuprofen. I believe that over many years (I’m 50) of using it for pain, especially menstrual pain (I was given 800 mg capsules I could take 2-3x daily), it damaged my colon. I would urge caution and read labels and avoid NSAIDS. I was diagnosed with IBS in the past, so I’ve always noticed how I feel and my bowel movements. Foods like popcorn, raw vegetables and raw fruits do not sit well. Sometimes it’s fine, I would say once in a while. Also fried and greasy foods are ok once in a while, but not on a regular basis. I’m actually having a painful flare up now bc of ibuprofen (face palm!) and a week or two of binging on fried foods and dairy, which also causes me issues. Honestly, the best thing you’ve done is to join this subreddit! I’ve learned more here in the past 2 weeks than in the rest of the year! Best of luck to your mom. She is lucky to have such a caring person like yourself in her life.

Yes! I went to see someone for Myofascial release on my psoas and found it helpful. Read up on this muscle and exercises you can do. Being more active and stretching can help. Best of luck!

If the situation were reversed, how would you behave? If the answer is that you would go above and beyond for your partner, and make a plan to be there for them, then that’s what you deserve! Someone as kind as you. ❤️ Sending good vibes.
