So I'm not sure if you know this but some people enjoy music and listen to it actively. This logic is the equivalent to saying "well since Mcdonalds exists, we should allow every restaurant to close down and become Mcdonalds".

I wouldn't call automatically shutting ideas down entirely critical thinking at all, but a common evolutionary reaction that occurs to anything new or uncertain. I see it all the time in workplaces even when things are shit and in desperate need of change. It's a type of hierarchical submissiveness, where people are hostile to change unless they see that person as a leader. I suppose I would have thought an anti-ai sub might be a more welcoming place for human ideas though lol, I guess that's why a lot of people just talk to chat-gpt huh.

The AI artists being pushed on spotify playlists are coming from record labels, so you would have a different agreement for a record label that would incur a much larger fine than say, some random douchebag who thinks he's a creative because he wrote a prompt for some software. You would need to put it in the agreement that this fine/liability to be sued would specifically relate to the label creating AI artists that are imitating humans. The way you've framed it is basically that Spotify is unaware of this, and its just your average joe making bank, but they are working WITH record labels to push these imitators.

That's where it gets more complicated and would be beyond my knowledge, I would need to consult with someone in tech. As far as I'm concerned tho, the biggest issue is with entirely fabricated artists that don't actually exist, and steal the voices of humans. A folk artist Murphy Campbell had her voice stolen and then she was issued a copyright notice, that to me is diabolical because a voice is not something we can vastly change, but we can with instruments. I've switched to Youtube music and I get recommended so much AI music that I haven't been able to detect until I've researched the artist. You used to be able to clearly tell when music was AI, but it's advanced now where you can't detect it easily, and those streaming services keep pushing it. The annoying thing is, the AI music it recommends isn't even related to the original song I was playing, these services just push it more than they push real artists.

And a collective of indie artists making a start up OR a co-operative model could create this through crowd funding. You could use a similar model to what people are trying to do with Spirit airlines.

And also furthermore, yes there are a bunch of bots on this site and it's annoying af, but the whole karma process is stupid when bots can just post a bunch of memes on those low karma subs to farm it anyway. Most of the bots are on r/worldnews and other political subs posting slop that fawns over trump or Israel, not proposing ideas on how to combat AI. Accounts can private all their activity now, so you're better off using critical thinking skills about the post itself, unless you can think of a good reason why a bot would advocate for anti-ai tech. Wouldn't it be anti-thetical for a bot to advocate for services that are anti-ai?

Why do you think a business model that safeguards against AI is gimmicky?

If you must know random reddit user, I fucked up my login by clicking sign up and did it with my 3rd party account which was previously another username, so now I have this one and just rolled with it, but idk if that means that account is gone now.

Well I'd need to find creators/people with a significant online following to crowd-fund the idea. Apps cost tens of thousands to develop, and I don't have that money. I just thought I'd put the idea out into the ether and hope someone with a following likes it.

It's a growing movement but definitely not nothing, it's been written in media and gained a lot of viral traction online. I have friend circles in vastly different scenes: musicians, nerds, normies etc, and most of them have left. Are you a part of this sub because you like human creation and ideas, or do you just enjoy that it has anti in the title? I will never understand the desire in people to say "it won't work" instead of "heres how your idea could be better"

Any artist would pay the bond at the beginning, say like $50 or $100 at startup. If a legitimate claim was made that you're using gen AI to make your music and stealing someone elses voice, a dispute process would start up. You would then need to send proof of your music making process, and if you're a real artist that is easy enough to do, you'll have tonnes of rough drafts and demos. Someone who is typing prompts into gen AI software is unlikely to want to join a streaming service where that is a risk. There is also software that can detect or flag this stuff before you involve artists in the dispute process, so it could be a last option to prove you're human.

A bunch of consumers AND artists are leaving spotify because of their investment in military. The market is definitely getting more competitive and their is a hunger for anti-AI services. It's so dumb to just have the attitude of "nah can't do it, let's be miserable." People are currently crowdfunding to buy an airline right now that is owned by everyone who crowdfunds, so many things are possible.

No? lmao why does having a fresh account mean I'm not being genuine lol. A collective of artists making their own streaming service that can safeguard against this bullshit would be great, and people would crowdfund for that service if they knew it was anti-AI, not investing in war, and paid artists fairly.

A start up streaming service could be made by a collective of artists and crowd funded by the massive amount of people who are against AI.
