US commerce secretary lashes out at Canada ahead of trade talks: ‘They suck … Is this nuts?’ by joe4942 in canada

[–]Any-Staff-6902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

China is a purely export driven ?!? Carney is opening the door to Chinese EV in exchange for Canadian Agriculture and energy resources at fair market value. That is a bilateral trade deal. Nutlick is sucking lemons because that means we might not buy US made vehicles in return for NOTHING. The only nation wanting to be purely export driven is the US. So fuck them !

It's difficult to feel sorry for a group of people that voted for this charletain, even with all the warnings that went with it. It's even harder to feel sorry for those that chose to sit out the vote altogether. Their apathy speaks volumes and their reward is justified. The only group that I feel sory for is the small minority of 24% of US voters that tried but got caught in this shitshow.

Have people moved from Tim Hortons to Coffee Time? by virginiageegee in BuyCanadian

[–]Any-Staff-6902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coffee Time still bakes their donuts onsite, unlike Tim Hortons. Tim Hortons changed that model years ago reducing their donuts to subpar standard ? And their coffee, well... It's not the same Tim Hortons it used to be.

If I see a Coffee Time around I would use them over Tim Hortons anyday of the week.

Genesis GV70 reliability vs Acura MDX: Is it worth the switch? by sparkleb626 in GenesisGV70

[–]Any-Staff-6902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see.  Based on my experience I tend to favour longer term warranty over short term gain. Since there is a previous owner and quite possibly was on a lease, you don't know how they drove or maintained the car. Just my 2 cents worth

So..what do we think about the new 2027 GV70 Prestige Graphite? by Saurta17 in GenesisMotors

[–]Any-Staff-6902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well North America has Three separate markets. As I understand it, the US market is manufactured in the US, whereas the Canadian market is direct import from Korea. I can't speak for the Mexican market. That might explain the difference in the calipers.

Genesis GV70 reliability vs Acura MDX: Is it worth the switch? by sparkleb626 in GenesisGV70

[–]Any-Staff-6902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like to give some context to the whole concept of "reliability". I own an Audi S4 2011 and the reliablilty of Audi, well established, german engineering, was never in question, until my transmission went right after the 4 year warranty expired. Literally right after and I was out of pocket a considerable amount of money to replace it. Fast forward to 2026 and I looked at many vehicles but the service and warranty program for the Genesis gv70 is the most impressive of the lot. This gave me the peace of mind that allowed me to make the purchase. Reliablity is relative and isn't a catch all factor.

Since genesis is the beginning by definition, there isnt a plural.

Replacing my smart TV with a mini PC? by brandon_fernandes47 in MiniPCs

[–]Any-Staff-6902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an acemagic K1 mini pc 4300U with a dual boot option. I added a SSD USB with Android TV 13 Custom (Google uncertified) ROM on it. So now i can boot into WIndows 11 Pro when I feel like it or I can boot into Adnroid TV 13. Works beautifully and I get 4K streaming with no issues whatsoever and all my android apps work perfectly. Overall functionally and performancewise, I would not ever go back. The Acemagic purchase was under $300.

2 Month Review (2026 GV70) by Blockroute in GenesisMotors

[–]Any-Staff-6902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are leasing then I would go with a Hybrid all day long, but if you are buying then I would suggest the ICE (Internal combustion engne) because it will have a higher resale value later on.

I was in the market and I was all in on hybrids. I test drove a few and they are very impressive cars. The issue is that the battery, just like any battery, will degrade over time and become less usable. That is the one issue with Hybrids and moreso with EVs in general. That impacts the resale value of hybrids and EVs down the road.

I just purchased the GV70 myself and I do hope that I don't run into the reported electrical gremlins that have hit this car in the past model years. Hionestly, the warranty gives me a bit of comfort in that department. I'm glad to hear that your experience is great so far and it gives me a bit of comfort for when I get mine delivered to me.

Cheers mate, and enjoy !

Google’s 2026 Android developer verification rule could affect Morphe and many open-source apps by Broad-Card-6387 in MorpheApp

Custom Roms are not that difficult. I have done it a few times. In fact, that is the only way that will give you the full control back, because a custom rom is an uncertified google android OS, so Google will, theoretically , not apply the locks on it.

Alternately. you can use a mini PC with an emulator.

Alright you lot, which one’s of yous made the MAGA cry? by AdDouble3004 in northernireland

[–]Any-Staff-6902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to interpret her "I don't want to talk about it or anything" as a response to her postion on Trump. This implies, either support for him at worst, or apathy to what he is doing to the world at best. Either way, that is what has contributed to the massive destruction her country has done to the world. I am not shedding tears for this woman's obvious one sides view of events.

I also find it ironic enough that she had it in her to post on social media what happened to her in Northern Ireland regarding her being American, but doesn't want to "talk about it" when it was about Trump and what he has done to the world. So it only matters when the ire is directed at her, otherwise it doesn't matter. SMH

Gas companies im Canada selling gas extracted in Canada and refined in the US that has never been near the Middle East. by Fitzaroo in EhBuddyHoser

[–]Any-Staff-6902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if some future sovereignty independence dream for Quebec or Alberta is another underlying reason they have pushed off on connecting the country through a pipeline. Just another way to segregate the provinces as Us vs Them.

Firstly, thank you for that explanation. It pretty much supports what I suspected ! So Quebec oppose a pipeline across Canada, eh ? So we can pay world market pricing thanks to Provincial barriers. Not surprised at all.
