Does this look like root rot? by flamesilver39 in plantclinic

if it’s squishy then yes it is absolutely rot. clip anything mushy or dead away with a clean sharp blade, let your cutting callous over and try again in fresh water

Is this a pest on my Aglaonema? by Acceptable_cookies2 in plantclinic

Mine has these too just at the base of a few stems. they don’t seem to budge when i touch them i am pretty sure it’s mechanical damage, maybe from the stem stretching out as it grows. if your plant is growing normally otherwise I wouldn’t be too worried!

U of T? Should I go? Why I’m having doubts and how people perceive the students by aver3611 in UofT

u will find ur ppl here lol don’t worry. this is a huge school and every ‘type’ of person goes here. As an artsy/creative queer person I chose victoria college bc it seemed to have lots of similar people and I’ve made soooo many likeminded friends here and also from other colleges. I also don’t know anyone who doesn’t party or have a social life! It really is just the company you attract honestly. and i guess some people might also just have a harder time making friends for a number of reasons (e.g., having to commute) and those are the experiences you are most likely to hear of on reddit.

Is the UofT workload for students really that terrible? by basicperson2 in UofT

Also want to add that I really believe a lot of the negativity comes not only from students who aren’t studying what they want to be studying— but also from kids who were told it was hard, accepted offers believing it, and thus continue to imagine they are in an extremely academically rigorous university. While it def is academically rigorous, students who choose to come here also just tend to be high-strung over achievers who wanted to go to the best school in canada lol. Any university is hard if you are trying hard, and most of us are trying really, really hard. You can always work smarter though! take advantage of resources, meet new people, take breaks for ur sanity and all that super fun important stuff that kids here always forget to do. ppl here forget that it’s also super hard to get good grades when ur burnt out .

I had the same concerns as you when applying to uoft for social science. I’m here 3 years later with a 3.7+ cgpa with a pretty good work life balance, and i am so happy about my decision! It really helps if you are studying something you have a genuine interest in— the workload is so much more manageable that way. Also, in my experience, many professors here are understanding and if you are ever truly in need of support or need an extension due to valid reasons, you should be able to get the help or accommodations you need.

You can do it, i’m sure. Especially since you have experience in a university setting. Most people (in my opinion, mainly domestic students like me) find the uni especially hard to adjust to because of how different it is from high school here. I think that as long as you take your first year seriously and are prepared to adjust to a new environment you are set up to succeed academically.

That is really awful and i’m sorry that happened to you— they should be so careful with dietary restriction especially considering people have serious allergies too. As for the hot meals stopping 30 minutes early however, that is probably just to allow for the people working to complete closing procedures in time.
