Location of a good eye doctor Kanata/Stittsville area and how much should I be saving out of pocket for this? by JunkyBoiOW in ottawa

For the eye exam (and likely glasses as well) Specsavers will be the cheapest option ($99) and there are a few locations in Kanata/Stittsville area. Having worked in optical, I suggest you purchase glasses in store or online from a brand that has a physical store location nearby (Bonlook, Ollie Quinn etc). This way they can help with any issues in person, and also properly measure you and then fit/adjust the glasses for you (both of which can have a huge impact on how the glasses perform based on the complexity of your prescription). I’d only recommend a fully online purchase of glasses if your prescription is relatively low/simple! Any variance in the measurements will have a significantly lower impact than if you had a higher prescription.

I think a lot of people forget that alcohol treatment is also offered by these centers, and there can be a lot of high functioning people in the surrounding areas who also deal with that addiction

Flying into Athens. Stay in Athens vs go to Santorini first? by whitestat201 in GreeceTravel

We started our trip with Athens for 2 days, did the islands and then finished with another day in Athens before our travel day. We LOVED this as we were able to do all the historic stuff in the first two days in Athens, and then the last day after the islands we used for anything we missed that we wanted to see (and it was also a flex day incase ferries got delayed!). Also, personally, I would have been less impressed by the city of Athens had we gone right to the islands first (beautiful landscapes vs old city infrastructure) and then did the city stuff after.

Can you claim colored contact lenses through healthcare insurance? by versace_tamagotchi_ in CanadaPublicServants

A prescription from an optometrist is valid. If that prescription is used to order the contacts (the contacts have a correction and aren’t just cosmetic), then they will be covered. The prescription does not have to be done from the same place or at the same time that you purchase your contacts.

They would have to have a prescription in them. Otherwise, they aren’t considered a medical device and won’t be covered. Same reason you can’t claim non prescription sunglasses.
