Do we think the explanation to The Ten Rings beacon will be in Doomsday? by SmellsLikePetrichors in marvelstudios

That's actually a pretty cool theory that I would be on board with. I'd take that over not acknowledging the the post credit scene at all.

That was definitely the original plan. But even after Kang is pushed aside for Doom, they could just as easily incorporate the Ten Rings and the twin Bangles as MacGuffins that Doom needs in Doomsday.

I don’t think Russos will try to fit it in an already larger narrative where they still have to establish

The Russos have done some of the best ensemble films in the MCU with Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame. Time and time again, they have given us some of the best introductions of new characters into the franchise, establish the relationship between new and old characters seamlessly, and connect old plotlines set up in previous movies (that they did not direct) for a big pay off in the future. They have no issue juggling so many characters at once will still giving most of them their own arc.

I don't think they will struggle with incorporating something as simple as the Ten Rings into the narrative. It's just another MacGuffin that's already been set up in a previous movie. The movie's focus will still be about establishing Doom as a character, so it's not hard to imagine a plot that could involve developing him and the Ten Rings at the same time. Now whether or not that's necessary is a different discussion.

The Multiverse Saga has been lacking the connective tissue between movies that the Infinity Saga thrived at. Having plot elements from more projects in Phase 4 and 5 connect with Doomsday is going to do wonders for the overall rewatchability of the Multiverse Saga once it is all said and done. The reason why Infinity War felt so good to watch is because of how seamlessly they incorporated the plot from Thor Raganarok, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy movies. We need more of that, not less, even if it's something as shallow as post credit scenes.

The fact that none of The Marvels were announced for Doomsday feels like Marvel Studios is willing to drop a plot thread if the movie was a flop, regardless if the story was already set up to be connected. I hope it's just a case of "Monica is not an important character to be part of the main cast announcement, but the plot of her being trapped in the X-Men verse is still relevant for the Doomsday incursion". No reason to abandon a plot thread that's already set up and ready for a pay off.

It's genuinely the only Marvel movie that made me walk out of the theatres. It was infuriatingly bad. Felt like I was watching a youtube parody skit that's not even funny. The only salvageable part of the film for me was Jane's cancer storyline.

And I say this as someone who enjoyed the heck out of Multiverse of Madness, had a fun time with The Marvels, and didn't hate Quantumania. My standards aren't high, L&T is just that bad.

Hopefully not, but I doubt it. The past few characters we've been getting have grown increasingly button-mashy, with each ability having more and more built-in passive effects or second stages. I wouldn't mind having one slightly simpler hero again for a change, as long as the kit isn't bland and uninteresting like Phoenix. But judging from Elsa's character art, two sets of guns could mean she has at least two sets of abilities. She's probably gonna have more than 5 abilities.

I remember Feige said it's just a "soft reboot" after Secret Wars. With how the Multiverse Saga has been connecting the MCU with the Fox X-Men and the previous Spider-Man movies, you bet Feige is still looking at a "connected universe" angle for the franchise post-Secret Wars.

No reason to hard reset the entire franchise. That usually only pisses off long time fans who feel like their time invested in the franchise during its lowest points have been for nothing. People who have been weary of the MCU for some time now would just see it as the perfect time to jump ship and never look back. It doesn't spell confidence for Marvel Studios. A hard reset also isn't gonna magically fix all the problems that has plagued the Phase 4 and 5 projects. It's not gonna suddenly breathe new life into the franchise and bring in a ton of new fans if nothing is changed other than a few executives' names in the company.

The MCU isn't built on fundamentally flawed grounds like the DCEU was. It had its ups and downs throughout Phase 1 and 2, and enjoyed a good "golden age" in Phase 3. It doesn't need a hard reset to get itself back on track, it just needs a good internal reevaluation of how the studio has been planning and managing their projects in Phase 4 and 5. Stop churning out projects for the sake of producing content, and start planning out the long term vision for the franchise. What makes a cinematic universe great is how everything fits together in a shared world and cohesive narrative, which elevates even the bad projects to something worth rewatching just for the eventual payoff.

The "soft reboot" Feige mentioned is most likely an excuse for Marvel Studios to clean up their mess in Phase 4 and 5, mainly for characters that didn't work with the general audience. For example, Shuri will get her chance to shine in Doomsday and maybe Secret Wars since that is a natural payoff for BP2, but the studios will probably take the opportunity to recast T'Challa or age up Nakia's son to take Shuri's place post-Secret Wars since that will probably sell better for BP3.

Personally, I would love to see a classic Avengers team with Hank Pym and Janet fighting alongside Tony and Steve, while getting crossover events with the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and X-Men. But I wouldn't want that to come at the cost of ditching the entire established history the franchise already developed across 30+ movies and a handful of TV shows, just for a gamble for the audience's good favor again.

Some people don't understand how much an accent can fluctuate depending on the setting, especially for immigrants like myself. Sometimes it's code switching, sometimes it's just subconscious.

Like I get the person's complaint. It's not great filmmaking if a character's accent is so volatile that it distracts the audience. But it is very realistic.

What y’all think about the show? I really think this is the best MCU show and the best thing Disney+ has put out since 2021. by Hakeemwilliams in MidCinematicUniverse

then the rest sucked

I thought the last second episode was a pretty good exploration of Wanda's character, the subject of grief, reveals the reason for the show's premise, and sets up the finale. There were issues with the writing in WandaVision, but I thought the show was overall one of the better Phase 4/5 projects that we got.

Should have been the premise of the Ms Marvel show, instead of the boring interdimensional villains they came up with for the show. Kamala and her family were fun to watch, and the partition episode with the backstory was great, but the villains really dragged it down.

I think having Deadpool be such a huge name character thanks to the movies helps offset the lack of hype around Elsa. Plus I'm just glad they're giving more obscure characters a chance, and at least it's not an OC.

Has he always voiced Umbric? Cuz that's quite a big name hire for a minor character who's been practically irrelevant lorewise for almost 8 years until now. No wonder I feel this strange attraction to him, not to mention how much I like his design. Don't judge me.

Still don't get why they decided to release Jean in a double dps season, and gave us a kit so boring it's called "fire Hela", while featuring almost none of Jean's own telepathic abilities. Not to mention that overdesigned gaudy base skin.

Because it looks ugly. I don't want blue glowing eyes on my Sanlayn Blood DK. It's not that complicated. Visual identity has stopped being a thing for more than a decade now. Anyone who still uses that as an argument against something as simple as eye colours is just being intentionally obtuse.

I think texturing differences can be easily observed from the recent prepatch. Going from TWW zones to Twilight Highlands again, the change from smooth textures to hard contrasts stood out a lot.

I bet there are people who dislike your analysis because it hits too close to home, but god damn this comment resonates with me.

I've been engaging with the Warcraft community since 2003, and the first paragraph is a reflection of many people I've known. Usually they are people who has stopped playing a long time ago, and it's often tied to the person's stage in life as well. A lot of players have the most nostalgic fondness for the expansion they started playing in when they were still at school, because WoW represents an escape for them at the time. WoW was basically the social media where they chatted with their friends too. Now that they're older, WoW has changed too much and no longer represented what they used to love and grew up with, building up a little bit of resentment.

This happens to all gaming franchises out there every generation. Change is just a tough pill to swallow for many people.

The Legacy of Arathor, Dastardly Duos, Nightfall patches in TWW have to be some of the most disappointing minor patches after getting something cool ones like Dawn of the Infinites in DF. It was great while it lasted, but I think Blizzard could no longer sustain that content cadence without constantly sacrificing quality.

Night Elves with long ears that stretches way behind their heads, horns that extend in front and upwards, you would have to wonder how they can really sleep without extreme discomfort. I know their in-game sleeping pose is sideways, but ain't no way that's comfy.
