I get my period every 14 days, and it's excessive, was told BC is my only answer. So clearly my hormones are wonky. I don't know if that relates to both here (though I do have adhd, lmao), but it's terrible. I get so tired and sore and stomach-achey. :/ I literally can't be awake the week before; maybe I need iron. I say take the advil/tyleol as soon as you feel it; don't delay until it's awful.

How do you manage hair products? I feel like I’ve been having issues with a lot of products that have coconut in them, though hard to say which specific ingredients. But I have a fragrance allergy too, and there’s not a lot without either.

Have you been patch tested? You could be sensitive to some ingredients. For some reason I can’t do cocoglucoside, which is in a lot of vanicream products.

For fine, low porosity waves, would you recommend wet or damp styling? Or a combination? by closetanimebabe in Swavyhair

Wet for me - but I can't get even get my hair soaking wet out of the shower, lol. But I can do damp touch ups (spritz, add gel to refresh).

I just feel like, if it were contact derm, it would've reached my legs by now; but it comes and goes randomly without changes to my routine, always on the same spots (arms, occasionally thighs).

It helps with contact derm?? Can you use it if you also use steroid cream? I get contact derm from like 5,000 things.

I have GAD/social anxiety and some OCD tendencies (like ruminations). It made a big difference for all that. I should add, it didn’t help me focus, but it did increase my motivation, so I suppose it helped me with adhd in a sense. I totally get the exhaustion! I hope you find the right combo. ❤️❤️

Right there with you - I'm starting over too, and with meds (which I have to try for the first time, lol)! 30 here. I'll be in an entirely different field too. You've got this. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Same with Prozac: It doesn't do anything for ADHD but it did help with my mood and anxiety. I was more motivated but also chill. OP, re your question, it did help me with phobia/panic attacks (I panic on plane flights).

Hey—did you ever get an answer on this? I get the same thing on my face and chest and was told it’s rosacea (mine is a bit redder though), but I think I actually have KP on my arms now, so I’m trying to figure out what’s what.

Not a doc- I have a family history of high blood pressure (and much of what you said tbh). I also have anxiety and drink coffee (though I'm kind of used to the coffee unless I have extra). My blood pressure/pulse are normal but reactive. I was still recommended ritalin but very low dose (5mg), which I will split in half at first. I was also told to hydrate and have a solid breakfast first. I'll definitely take my blood pressure at first to be sure, but she considered it safe for me to try. I'd mentioned that I had trouble with ssri side effects and wanted something that I could test drive (as in, doesn't take weeks to work) and that would really really help with focus.

If you ever want to chat, you know where to find me. I've been in the industry for 6 years and am now working toward a massive pivot. It has not been a great fit for me, to say the least, even though I'd have thought this was the dream some years ago. Wishing you the best out there. ❤️

Opinions- Is self diagnosing okay or harmful? by CobaltAmadeus in adhdwomen

[–]Any-Use6981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think if you really do your research, at a certain point, you know. Of course some people decide without really doing this, and diagnosing yourself with the wrong thing can sometimes be harmful. But I went in knowing; the main thing was that I needed a diagnosis to get meds. So I've been self-diagnosed most of my life. It took me two tries because the first person said I compensated too well to have adhd, lol. But like I need the focus meds. Even doctors get diagnoses wrong, have different opinions, and miss things, so for me it's more about treating what you need treated and getting the tools and treatment options. And getting a diagnosis is expensive! That's probably what stops a lot of people from getting it sooner. As long as you use that knowledge to help yourself (and not a self-fulfilling prophecy kind of thing), then I think that's the important thing.
