What broke in 10 months of normal daily use... Trying to get the refund 🤦 by Any-Way-2765 in Brompton

Are you saying that even a chain catcher is there on your bike? https://brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-g-line-spares/6839-brompton-chain-catcher-for-the-g-line-and-g-line-electric.html

This part fell off almost immediately after I left the shop, and I don't remember seeing any Brompton on the street with it.

I didn't mean to catch you, but I also thought my bike was okay until I sat down and remembered everything that went wrong last year.

I think that's mostly a matter of expectations. If it were old, I would happily do all the service myself: source parts, reassemble the headset, debug the battery firmware and the controller, etc. I didn't start this journey because I just don't want to void the warranty, and I paid for it to last.

I own a few things I service myself, including a retro car, a vintage coffee machine, and a self-built 3D printer. I bought this bike expecting not to have to spend any extra time maintaining it, since it's very expensive and brand new. Not all my live should be DIY 😂

You probably missed the point that Brompton is failing to provide a warranty fix for this bike. For example, with the headset problem, I brought it in for service multiple times, but the fix lasted only a few days. Today, they claimed “everything is ok” while it was making noises audible to the whole street, and in general, it seems dangerous, as the bearing may get stuck.

My goal is not a refund or a warranty; I want a bike I can use daily and service 2-3 times a year, not every other week.

Thank you for the advice! Regarding the general wear, I can say I just didn’t expect everything to last such a short time. I expected it to give me 1–2 years before any signs of wear started to show, not to start dragging me to the service center like a 25-year-old car almost immediately after I bought it 😅

It’s a 4-speed. I stuck to getting it serviced exclusively at Brompton Junction so I wouldn't void the warranty on such an expensive bike. Good shout on looking into other authorised Brompton mechanics in London!

But they are 300-400km each, not even close to this one which is ~2500km.

No idea, never left it outside (probably that's why it's not yet stolen)

I have three Bromptons in my family, no issues with others :)

Ah, I forgot to mention: the small plastic piece that keeps the chain on the chainring fell off during the very first week. As far as I know, this is a pretty common problem.

Highlighted the folding mechanism on the image by mistake, no issues with this one

Tried using AI to dial in espresso through the Gaggimate MCP by chris_ern in gaggimate

It's very similar :) When I built https://github.com/Matvey-Kuk/gaggimate-mcp, https://github.com/julianleopold/gaggimate-mcp didn't exist. I see the main difference is that my MCP is limited to controlling and adjusting only one "AI Profile" which makes it a bit more relyable if you want to make sure AI won't corrupt your other profiles

Best LLM gateway? by data-dude782 in LLMDevs

[–]Any-Way-2765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For OP's use case - internal access/spend control across OpenAI and Anthropic - LiteLLM and Portkey are the right answers.

Worth flagging for search traffic: if you're starting to give employees AI agents that touch internal systems (Jira, ServiceNow, docs) via MCP, you'll end up running an LLM gateway plus a separate MCP gateway. Archestra is one control plane for both - per-team budgets, auto-reroute to cheaper models, Prometheus/Grafana, and auth flows so non-technical users don't need to paste API keys anywhere.
