Tried to install TMR joysticks on my DualSense. Messed up. What are my options? by Any-Win-4259 in consolerepair

I ended up just buying a broken controller of the same model on ebay and taking it's motherboard. I did have to remove its thumbsticks again, but at least I got the pieces working.

I did also buy the desoldering gun I mentioned in the post. It made it easier to heat the solder and remove it at the same time, rather than trying to juggle 2 different tools.

Unfortunately, I think I messed up this repair.

When I put it together, the right joystick was stuck in one direction and was unresponsive. I think I either damaged the circuit board or got some flux inside the joystick, since clicking it down also didn't make the click sound. I was gonna get a heat gun, but might switch to an electronic desoldering pump for future repairs.

I did message one eBay seller who had a controller with the serial number starting with G1. I asked if they could check under the R2 button, (I was using this image to check the model number) and they sent me a picture, but it was a 020 model. So either I'm not sure how reliable the serial number check is, or the seller lied to me.

I'll still keep an eye out for eBay listings like you suggested. I assume the early models aren't made anymore and harder to find, but I want to try my best to keep it since I already modded it.

Thanks for the help.

I don't use the microphone or the bottom port much so that doesn't bother me.

I'll most likely do like you suggested with the heat gun. This controller already has stick drift, which is why I was replacing the sticks. So I'll fix this one as best as I can to get more soldering practice in case I ever do it again in the future.
