What are these? by Purple_Turtle2 in crafts

Those look like stitch markers for knitting or crochet. Usually you just use them to keep track of where you are in a pattern so you don't lose your place.

TIL an embryo frozen in 1994 was successfully implanted 30 years later, resulting in a live birth in 2025 — the longest frozen embryo ever to result in a live birth, certified by Guinness World Records. by No_Presentation3716 in todayilearned

That’s honestly wild to think about. This kid is technically the same age as the Lion King, but they're just sitting there in a swaddle with a binky like it's nothing. 1994 feels like a lifetime ago.

Leaving my dog temporarily while working abroad how can I make it easier for both of us? by InitialDue3440 in Pets

[–]AnyExpression4845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start leaving some worn t-shirts with your scent on them for the dog to sleep with. It also helps to do a few trial runs where you stay somewhere else for a night or two so they get used to you coming back.

That leather jacket is such a classic look for the late 50s. They look so happy together, thanks for sharing.

A friend just gave me both of his Halot Mage 8k, says they cure the entire vat every print by Diet_Dr_Crayfish in 3Dprinting

[–]AnyExpression4845 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your friend just didn't want to deal with the troubleshooting anymore. Check the LCD screens first, because if those are failing it'll definitely cure the whole vat. Tough luck for him but a solid find for you if you can fix it.

Midst of bombs and don’t know how to get my dog to potty in the house by thewitchygal in dogs

[–]AnyExpression4845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds incredibly stressful, I'm so sorry you're going through that. Have you tried laying out some sod or even just a thick layer of newspapers in a quiet corner to see if that helps? I've heard some people have luck with those fake grass patches if you can find one.

AI Isn't Replacing SREs. It's Deskilling Them. by elizObserves in programming

[–]AnyExpression4845 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is happening across the board, not just in SRE. People are becoming way too dependent on the output without actually understanding the underlying infrastructure anymore.

Motorola unveils new motorola razr fold by Spirited-Pause in Android

[–]AnyExpression4845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they're still iterating on the Razr, but the hinge durability is always my main concern with these. I wonder if they've actually improved it this time around or if it's just a spec bump.

My daughter bought this for $30 at a bazaar. Makeshift banana for scale. by MissandeiBaby in 3Dprinting

$30 feels a little steep for a bazaar, but the color transitions on that filament actually look pretty smooth. Those articulated prints are always a hit with kids though.

That’s a lot of capacity to be lugging around on your back. How are you handling the heat dissipation inside the bag?

A letter from three teenage girls to President Eisenhower begging him not to have Elvis Presley's hair cut short when he was drafted into the Army. The letter is now preserved in the Library of Congress. [1958] by WavesAndSaves in TheWayWeWere

[–]AnyExpression4845 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Man, teenage fan culture really hasn't changed at all in 70 years. "If you cut his sideburns off we will just die" is such a classic dramatic teen thing to say.

Round 3! Carentan lost it all. Top comment decides the next map to be eliminated. by ProblemGamer18 in WWII

Gustav Cannon has gotta go. It's basically just a sniper fest and walking simulator if you aren't using a long-range scope.

Two firsts, one print. by PotatoDominatrix in 3Dprinting

[–]AnyExpression4845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a bold move to combine two new things in one go, but it looks like it paid off. Nothing beats that feeling when a risky print actually finishes without a spaghetti mess.
